WOKE JUSTICE “AFFORDABLE HOUSING”-WILL THE CHURCH SELL ITS SOUL AND GOD’S RESOURCES?

“HOUSING EQUITY” IS ON THE FRONT BURNER OF THE WOKE AND DEI AGENDA AND THE PROPERTY OF CHURCHES IN AMERICA IS IN THE CROSSHAIRS. FIRST -“CHRISTIAN” LEADERS LIKE DAVID PLATT AND “FAITH DRIVEN INVESTORS” BEGAN PROMOTING THE USE OF CHURCHES “UNDER-USED OR UNUSED PROPERTIES” AS UNCLAIMED TERRITORY FOR MEETING THE HOUSING NEEDS OF THE UNDERSERVED. SINCE JULY OF LAST YEAR REALTOR.COM HAS TAKEN UP THE AGENDA.

This site first reported the Faith Driven Investors ploy to use justice warrior activist pastor David Platt to promote the concept of churches using their ( actually God’s) property to enter the “affordable housing” supply chain. Doubtless this move would involve Faith Based Partnerships with HUD and various federal agencies.Sadly for many churches, denominations and pastors already neck deep in FBP funding, this would not present a problem for their convictions but would prove a deepening compliance to DEI and WOKE JUSTICE metrics and further remove the church from its Great Commission calling by Jesus and divert energies into meeting social equity needs of socialist economics and Globalist.

“Yes in God’s Backyard: More Than 800,000 Homes Could Be Built on Land Owned by Churches—Here’s How Some Are Breaking Ground on Affordable Housing.”

“Religious groups own more than 2.6 million acres of underutilized land across the U.S., enough to support 800,000 new homes. A growing movement called YIGBY, Yes in God’s Backyard, is turning that opportunity into affordable housing. In Boise, ID, where home prices have surged 67.4% since 2019, nonprofit LEAP Housing partners with congregations to build on church land through long-term ground leases, often for just $1 a year. The first project converted a church parking lot into two family homes renting at 50% below market rate.”

HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT /HUD AND FAITH BASED HOUSINGPLAYING THE CHURCH OUT OF GODS RESOURCES AND INTO GOVERNMENT COMPLIANCE.

“HUD is upholding the Fair Housing Act of 1968 by working with faith-based and community leaders to combat discrimination and rebuild American communities by increasing access to quality, affordable housing.”

Federal Agencies operate with strict non- discimination policies deeply rooted in DEI/ Inclusion requirements and WOKE metrics demanding compliance.HUD is one fo them Housing is a hot topic and Faith Based Partners are held to the same exact standards of compliance.

“HUD is partnering with faith-based organizations and grassroots nonprofits to address local housing and economic challenges. These community partners are often the first to support vulnerable populations.

To make it easier for them to participate, HUD is simplifying grant applications, clarifying eligibility requirements, and reducing administrative burdens.”

HUD -SEVEN PROGRAMS –

Top 7 HUD Programs

  1. Section 8
  2. Public Housing
  3. FHA Mortgage and Loan Insurance
  4. Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)
  5. HOME Investment Partnerships Program
  6. Homeless Assistance
  7. Fair Housing Assistance Program (FHAP)

“The primary mission of HUD is to create fair and equal housing for all. This mission covers public housing, multifamily housing, and various other types of housing setups. HUD seeks to help everyone – from a new homebuyer to low-income households – acquire and maintain housing that’s safe and sanitary for an individual or family to live in.”

“The reason for various HUD programs is that each program targets a different goal. For example, FHA mortgages provide affordable mortgage loan options through FHA-approved lenders. Homeless assistance through HUD is available to homeless veterans and other people who need housing. When you contact HUD for assistance, a representative can help guide you to the right department and program based on your needs.”

A I findings on HUD and FBP TOTALS-

HUD partners with faith-based organizations to develop affordable housing by utilizing underutilized church land for new construction, rehabilitation, and community development. HUD grantees can collaborate with religious institutions, offering grants for rental assistance and specialized financing for nonprofits. Initiatives like YIGBY (“Yes In God’s Backyard”) help convert church property into affordable homes, addressing the nationwide housing supply shortage.”

“Key findings regarding these partnerships include:

  • Significant Grantee Activity: In recent years (e.g., 2022–2024), major faith-based and community-based organizations have received tens of millions in grants for capacity building and community development, such as Habitat for Humanity International receiving a $22.3 million Section 4 grant in 2024.
  • Continuum of Care (CoC) Participation: A significant portion of HUD’s annual Homeless Assistance Grants (which reached nearly $3.6 billion in FY2024) is awarded to faith-based providers, who often act as key access points in CoC networks.
  • Support for Affordable Housing: HUD’s “Working with Faith-Based Organizations on Affordable Housing Development” initiatives encourage partnerships to convert underutilized land into affordable homes.
  • Recent Funding Focus: In 2024, HUD awarded $83 million to national intermediaries (including Habitat for Humanity) to boost local community development, a program frequently used by faith-based organizations.
  • Ongoing Support: HUD continues to provide technical assistance and grant opportunities specifically aimed at increasing the role of faith-based organizations in neighborhood development.”

“Church-Owned Land Could Help Fill Affordability Gap”

“According to a survey for the Pew Charitable Trusts conducted last September, a majority of Americans back a range of zoning initiatives that would increase housing availability and affordability. Such policies will be necessary to address the spectacular shortage of approximately 4 to 7 million homes nationwide.

One solution could be founded on utilization of unused and underused land owned by churches and religious groups. Local governments and real estate developers have forged partnerships with faith-based organizations that own a total of 2.6 million acres of land across the U.S.

It’s part of a new movement called YIGBY (Yes in God’s Backyard) that could create more than 800,000 new housing units. The effort has gained legislative traction in states as diverse as Virginia, New York, California and Colorado.

Among hurdles facing those who would like to build new affordable communities is a mountain of red tape dictating what and where new properties can be built. This includes restrictive land-use covenants and zoning ordinances. “In the midst of today’s economic downturn and heightened partisanship, tapping into creative partnerships with public, private and civic entities is essential to solving the housing availability and accessibility [issue],” says Matthew Nicholson, president of The Clear Blue Company, a Nashville, Tenn. private equity company focused on affordable housing solutions. Its Northview Housing Development in North Nashville, Tenn. will be a senior workforce housing community built on an unused land parcel on the Born Again Church campus.”

CONCLUSION

Whether it is FEMA or HUD…HHS or DHS- churches and denominations involved in Faith Based Partnerships with the governments ARE a problem. The money involved is as massive as it is hidden to most in the church and the end game always cost the church its soul and its grasp of the Great Commission and sujects the church to left driven humanitarian justice and social service. THIS is much of the reason why conservative churches wetn WOKE and remain on this destructive and perverse path to this day.
