REVOICE RECAP: Cliff Notes for Busy Believers on the Movement Promoting Sexual Minority, LGBT+, Queer Christianity in the Conservative Churches in America!

Rev. Thomas Littleton                                            7/22/2018

(Note, the issues involving the conservative Evangelical church and the Revoice conference are all the more pointed given the Human Rights Campaign renewed efforts to infiltrate Evangelical churches announced just last week.  Those HRC efforts have particular focus on the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest protestant denomination in the US and historically conservative on family, marriage and sexual ethics.  HRC’s special emphasis is seen here and even quotes SBTS head, Albert Mohler.  Last week the ERLC finally acknowledged such efforts by the HRC to Infiltrate the SBC while also for the first time publicly addressing the presence of the largest LGBT activist organization after years of meeting WITH HRC and others in private.

A movie attacking Reparative Therapy and Ex Gay ministries, titled “Boy Erased,” is due for release this Fall.  It stars Russell Crow as a Baptist preacher who forces his son into a sort of boot camp for families wanting to “pray away the gay,” which is a very distorted view of ministries who help those who want freedom from such desires. These issues are ramping up in the culture as efforts to criminalize opposition to homosexuality go hand in hand with those advocating to promote and normalize it, especially to youth and to Christian youth in particular. Leaders of conservative churches who are getting it wrong, repeating false narratives and facilitating such events and the greater movement behind Revoice, have done and are doing a great disservice to the Body of Christ and to their own families. The SBC annual meeting in Dallas saw a timely and great opportunity to address the important issue of preserving ministry to people wanting out of the LGBT lifestyle by passing a RESOLUTION proposed by Dr. Robert Oscar Lopez of SWBTS. The Resolution never made its way out of committee for the Dallas SBC annual meeting. If Russell Moore of the ERLC had stood behind this resolution like he has done with others, such as the 2017 Alt-Right condemnation, this all-important issue of meaningful ministry to the LGBT community by Southern Baptist churches and ministries would not have been ignored.)

REVOICE

The Revoice Conference, scheduled to take place in St Louis on July 26th and 27th, is being held to “Promote LGBT+ Flourishing in historic Christian tradition.” Revoice represents a rapid advancement of new language on the issues of LGBTQ movement into the Church. In its vision, beliefs statements, workshops and biographies of the speakers, the conference openly discusses and promotes the normalization of very radical pro homosexual terms and ideology. Examples of the new language include: “LGBT+ Christian,” “Queer Christian,” “Queer Visibility” (coming out as gay) in the Church,” “Gleaning the Virtues of Queer Culture, Literature, and Theory for the Church and the New Jerusalem at the End of Time,” “Sexual Minorities in the Church and in Ministry in the Church,” and “Making the Church Open to and a Safe Haven for the LGBT+ Community.”

This author first broke this story with the help of WorldView Radio and The Janet Mefferd programs in early May 2018. Since that time the Revoice website has altered some of its more progressive language but by no means attempted to still the controversy. The author and others have reached out to the founder of Revoice, Nate Collins from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Those efforts have been turned away with little or no response to the concerns expressed.

The author has researched and written extensively on Revoice and WHY this July event represents a movement to normalize and promote acceptance of “LGBT+ Christianity” into mainstream Christian churches and denominations like the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the conservative Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).  If this and other extensions of this subversive and well-funded effort are not met and turned away from the gates of orthodox Christianity, the days of Institutionalized Christian denominations and churches are numbered in America and those believers who remain faithful to God’s Word will have no choice but to leave churches and denominations who embrace and allow it. Significant infiltration has already occurred in our Seminaries – of the SBC and PCA and other denominations. (the issues in bullet points below are researched, documented and explained in detail in the linked articles at the conclusion of this Recap.

PROBLEMS WITH THE REVOICE CONFERENCE

IN THE SBC

The Founder of Revoice is Nate Collins who self identifies as a homosexual in a mixed orientation marriage, which means that he is married to a woman who is heterosexual, but he identifies as a homosexual. Collins holds a Degree from Moody Bible Institute, and a Master’s and Doctorate from Dr Albert Mohler’s very conservative (in reputation at least) Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) in Louisville KY. Collins was a New Testament Instructor at SBTS and a Garrett Fellow (grading papers and counseling SBTS students on academics) and is currently an Adjunct Online Teaching partner for SBTS. He has traveled and represented SBTS as a scholar to the Evangelical Theological Society on his researched topics of Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Theory. Collins’ work of planning and incorporating REVOICE began as far back in, (at least) the Fall of 2017, while he was still teaching at Dr. Mohler’s SBTS. According to his bio, Collins spent at least 14 ½ years as a student and later as a teacher and self-identified homosexual (Side B) Christian.  His father, Chip Collins, was Associate Dean at the undergraduate Boyce College, which is a feeder school for SBTS. In 2013, the father and son team – of son Nate (Student and NT instructor at SBTS) and father Chip (Boyce faculty at the time) – had a partnership ministry called “Aligned Grace” where they lectured as an “out” homosexual Christian Son and Father who represented the family who have chosen to affirm the son’s stand as a “Side B” homosexual. “Side B” is LGBT terminology for “Same Sex Attracted Christianity” which means espousing “Celibacy” or having a “Mixed Orientation Marriage” as “adherence to historic Christian Ethic.”

The Collins’ Father and Son Aligned Grace team also partnered with Exodus International’s final President, Alan Chambers, as the organization was abandoning ex gay therapy. The closing of Exodus International was used to vilify all ex gay ministries and led to the broader vilification of Reparative or Conversion Therapy.

LOVEBOLDLY

LOVEboldly was founded in 2011 in Kentucky and Nate Collins joined its board in 2013 while still working at SBTS for at least another 4 ½ – 5 years. LOVEboldly is endorsed by Emergent leader, Brian McLaren, Alan Chambers and Julie Rodgers, the former Wheaton Chaplains office counselor who flipped from Side B to Side A – Fully Affirming homosexual behavior and marriage as a Christian – shortly after the SCOTUS / Obergefell decision. LOVEboldly has both side A and Side B members and events and espouses an alliance for all LGBT+ Christians beyond the issues of Theology, Morality, Politics, or personal views on any similar, possibly divisive issues. The work of Regent University Psychologist, Mark Yarhouse, has played a key role in the development of the LGBT ideology of LOVEboldly / Revoice and even The Gospel Coalition (TGC) members, D. A. Carson, Tim Keller and Albert Mohler, Russell Moore, and the institutions and organizations which these leaders oversee.

“DEVOTED FOR YOUTH PASTORS” CONFERENCE

In the Fall of 2018, LOVEboldly will host a “Devoted for Youth Pastors” Conference on “LGBT+ Christianity” with two key leaders of the Revoice Conference, Nate Collins (also a LOVEboldly board member) and Gregory Coles, a Student and Instructor in the English Department of Penn State University. Coles’ area of study, similar to Collins, is in Theory and Rhetoric focused on gender, feminine, race and sexual minority theory and rhetoric toward social change. Coles’ book, Single Gay Christian, is heavily endorsed by TGC. The “Devoted for Youth Pastors” Conference seeks to come alongside YOUTH PASTORS to help them affirm and minister to LGBT teens in churches, thus bypassing senior church staff and parents by taking the Revoice / LOVEboldly ideology directly to teens and preteens in their churches. A 2016 LOVEboldly conference called “Restore” featured “Side A” lesbian Christian, Julie Rodgers, and Regent University’s Dr. Mark Yarhouse, who collaborate on focusing to bring their Side A and Side B message to Christian youth. LOVEboldly has close ties to the Human Rights Campaign through a board member, Christy Messick, and Julie Rodgers, the bride-to-be of a radical lesbian LGBTQ Equality activist who heads a lobby group and serves on Leadership Committees of the HRC.  HRC’s funding ties to the $50 million dollar PLUS per year budget with special emphasis on conservative evangelical (SBC churches) are suspected, to be confirmed soon.

ERLC / RUSSELL MOORE TIES TO REVOICE

The Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention is the policy, and lobbying arm of the denomination. Its leader is the brazenly controversial Russell Moore who is an SBTS graduate and former Instructor and Dean. Moore took the reins of ERLC in March 2013 and by October made waves by announcing that “The Culture War is over and we (the Church) lost” and, therefore, we need to make nice and “love our gay and lesbian neighbors.” Moore then led the ERLC to host a 2014 conference on Homosexuality and the Future of Marriage to which he invited and secretly met behind closed doors with many LGBTQ activist groups including the Human Rights Campaign. This issue has now come to the attention of many who question the following connections of Revoice to the ERLC. In Moore’s 2014 conference, he and Dr Albert Mohler of SBTS capitulated and professed their belief in Homosexual Orientation and denounced all efforts to help people change or be transformed from unwanted homosexual desires through ministries that provide Reparative or Conversion Ex Gay therapy.

Karen Swallow Prior is a professor at Liberty University, an ERLC Research Fellow and a close friend of Russell Moore. Swallow Prior appears to enjoy the spotlight of being progressively controversial in the SBC. Prior also promotes the Revoice Conference on the Revoice website and has a history of appearing at LGBT+ events.

ERLC contractor, Brandon Polk, will be a Speaker at Revoice. His company, Arrowhead Advisors, worked very closely with Russell Moore in the ERLC 2017 “Christ Centered Parenting Conference” and on the controversial, racially charged MLK/50 conference last April. Polk has most recently worked with Moore’s ERLC legislative research on Prison Reform. Polk does not speak in his biography about his personal place in the Side A Side B discussion. He does boast (on both personal and Arrowhead social media) of his close friendship with Todrick Hall, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag (Queen) Race television program. Russell Moore considers Brandon Polk’ company to be an advisor to him on Christ Centered Parenting for Southern Baptists. That should have time to settle in on Southern Baptists about their ERLC leadership.

Nate Collins advocates for his Side A and Side B followers when he says “Give to a charitable organization that either helps LGBT people in crisis, offers Christ-focused support services, or promotes awareness, dialogue, and peace as genuine Christian values. LoveBoldly, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, and the Gay Christian Network are all good options, as well as the GoFundMe site for the victims and their families.”

None of the articles written in response or the broadcast by SBC or TGC leaders speak to their own connections to those involved, founding, promoting ,or speaking at Revoice. All responses carefully avoid going anywhere near Nate Collins ties to SBTS/ ERLC  the endorsement of Karen Swallow Prior , the ERLC contractor speaking, Mark Yarhouse  ideology, or Covenant Seminaries many links to the conference. Such coordinated avoidance is not possible without intention .

PCA DENOMINATIONAL TIES ARE EVEN WORSE

The Presbyterian Church of America has been one of the most trusted Reformed conservative and active denominations in the US for around 40 years. It produced such outspoken leaders as D. James Kennedy and Frank Barker on theological, convictional, moral, social issues like the gay agenda (now called LGBT+ or LGBTQ). Both were among the PCA’s founding leadership, however, Revoice represents very disturbing infiltration into the denomination. St Louis, Missouri is the location of the PCA’s flagship, Covenant Theological Seminary. Seven Revoice speakers are recent graduates of Covenant Seminary as well as three Covenant professors who are either endorsing, like Scott Sauls (Nashville Extension for Covenant), or speaking at Revoice. The President of Covenant Seminary is Mark Dalbey, whose wife Beth works in the leadership of one of the Revoice mentor organizations, First Light, which maintains offices at Memorial PCA Church which is hosting Revoice.

The PCA Pastor of Revoice is Greg Johnson. Both he and Mark Dalbey were asked to answer concerns during the PCA’s General Assembly annual meetings in Atlanta in June 2018. Dalbey pointed out that Covenant is not hosting or connected to Revoice but fails to mention his wife’s involvement with First Light at Memorial PCA which mentors Revoice and whose director, a Covenant Seminary graduate, is ALSO a Revoice speaker.

Greg Johnson has made a case for the Side B “faithfulness to Christian sexual ethic” and is one of the few involved who espouse that this “Ethic” is Biblically based. In fact, it is not, as Collins and Mark Yarhouse confirm that if their conclusions about the validity of a homosexual or LGBT sexual orientation are true, then it is not addressed in Scripture and the espoused Christian Sexual Ethic is based on extrabiblical /psychologically based terminology. On July 15th Greg Johnson affirmed in an interview podcast that he “would also consider hosting a conference similar to Revoice, if asked, for “Pedophile Christians, those attracted sexually to children.” To date, he and his church have received no warnings or actions of discipline from the PCA and they appear to remain in good standing with their Biblical conservative denomination.

Scott Sauls, who endorses Revoice on its website and helped organize the event in the Spring of 2018, is the long time protege’ of PCA golden boy, Timothy Keller. Sauls was on the preaching staff and later became a church planter for Keller’s Redeemer City PCA church in New York City. Keller had planted over 400 churches globally and is now working through his Redeemer City to City to plant thousands more by 2025. Sauls is also part of Keller’s Gospel Coalition and contributes to the ERLC and Russell Moore. Sauls appears to be following his mentor into the fringes on LGBTQ issues as Keller has already shown an inability to say clearly that homosexuality is a sin, in a 2015 Veritas Forum, and, in 2013, said that Christians can support gay marriage in the culture just not in the church. No such imaginary lines as Keller pretends to define exist now in the reality of legal same sex marriage. SCOTUS opinions on Obergefell have made it clear that redefining marriage is a threat and sets up a future class struggle between Gay Rights and Religious Freedom. Does Keller think he knows something that SCOTUS legal minds do not about these dangers? Doubtful.

REVOICE AND LIVING OUT: PROMOTED IN UNISON BY SAM ALLBERRY & TIM KELLER

Tim Keller was in London to be the keynote speaker at the June “Living Out” conference promoted by Sam Allberry, a Same Sex Attracted Priest who, along with other self-identified gay priests in the Church of England, are migrating LGBT language since the 2013 vote of parliament to legalize same sex marriage in the UK. Keller’s TGC and Russell Moore of ERLC have heavily promoted Allberry and his SSA ministry for over 4 years to the US Evangelical Church. Allberry’s Living Out eagerly promoted the Revoice Conference for their “US audience” along with their marketing and Promotion of the Keller/ Allberry Event in London for June 2018.

CONSERVATIVE MASTERS COLLEGE (NOW UNIVERSITY) AND SEMINARY GRADUATE INVOLVED.

One of the speakers at Revoice and “key straight allies” of the Revoice and the broader LGBT+ “Christian Community” is Preston Sprinkle and his Center for Faith Sexuality and Gender. Sprinkle is relatively unknown outside these circles but his presence at Revoice and mentor role to the “Sexual Minority” LGBT+ camp represented in Revoice and beyond proves disturbing to devoted followers of John Macarthur since Sprinkle carries two degrees (and perhaps ordination to ministry/credentials) from Macarthur’s conservative Masters College and Seminary. Many hope that John Macarthur will be the first among the mainstream ministers, whose disciples are attempting to Revoice the Church, to respond and openly denounce this movement.

NO BIBLICAL BASIS FOR REVOICE CLAIMS / ITS SOURCE IS MARK YARHOUSE AND THE APA

In the extensive research provided in the links below, one common influence becomes apparent. Mark Yarhouse of Regent University has impacted seminaries like Covenant and SBTS, institutions and parachurch ministries like the ERLC and TGC, and manifestations of this radical, new, migratory and gateway language of “LGBT+, Sexual Minority and Queer Christianity.” Yarhouse is a psychologist who works with interfaith, gay and Christian psychologists to reconcile conflicted LGBT people of faith based on the presumptions of the pro homosexual policies of the American Psychological Association (APA).

In 1973, the APA departed from its position that homosexuality is a mental illness and declared it to be a healthy lifestyle. Since that time the psychological community has operated on this assumption. Christian psychologists have had sharp divisions over the issue of homosexuality and Christian Counseling for decades. Mark Yarhouse has worked with the APA, Gay and Christian psychologists to bridge that gap and provide common ground for these diverse and antithetical points of view.  In the Yarhouse Whitepaper, which was developed in 2010 for The Gospel Coalition at the request of D.A. Carson for use in their College Campus ministries, the concept of Sexual Orientation as fixed was stated as a principle. Using the APA and his own very limited Research (around 98 selected people with SSA), Yarhouse’s Institute for the Study of Sexual Identity concluded that since (as asserted ) Sexual Orientation is real and fixed or “seldom changes,” then a person who has  a ”homosexual Identity,” which in the case of a Christian (or a follower of a particular faith historically opposed to homosexuality), has a conflicted “Faith Identity.” These two must be merged for the wellbeing of the patient or person with conflicted identities. Therefore, “LGBT+ or particular (sexual) Identity” + “Faith Identity” = “LGBT+ Christian” or “Sexual Minority Christian.”

Since 2010, TGC leadership and its devotees and affiliates have been steeped in this view as the gold standard for all things LGBT in the Church, its literature and its seminaries, training and ministry practice. This leadership included Russell Moore, while at SBTS and then as head of ERLC from 2013, as he and Albert Mohler influenced the SBC leadership (including the new SBC President J D Greear according to his lecture at ERLC and his pastoral care policy) and their underlings through Moore’s policy shift and the 2014 conference of the ERLC in Nashville. TGC along with D.A. Carson and Tim Keller were able to use the influence of their co-founded organization TGC to promote the Yarhouse Whitepaper/ideology in the conservative PCA and to the Seminaries and as outlined in the document, to the Campus ministries like Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), CRU and InterVarsity. Ironically, a supposed pragmatic reason for reaching the Millennials has driven much of the public discussion as these leaders and others advise us that conservative Evangelicals are in the minority position culturally. If true, this culture shift would be due to false narratives which they themselves have helped to propagate.

Southern Baptists floundering against LGBT agenda, pro-family forces keep fighting

Image
Marching in the 2018 Boston Gay Pride parade. Is this the future of the Southern Baptist denomination? (MassResistance photo.)

July 13, 2018 (Mass Resistance) – In April 2017, Rev. Tom Littleton of Alabama gave a chilling talk on “How the LGBT movement is infiltrating conservative churches” at the MassResistance Citizen Action Conference in Austin, TX. For over a decade, he pointed out, the national LGBT movement has been funding a multi-million-dollar under-the-radar subversive campaign in Southern states to push the homosexual movement into conservative Christian churches. And they’ve been shockingly successful.

But an even bigger goal has been to infiltrate and subvert the overall Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), the largest Christian denomination in the South and the second largest in North America (after the Catholic Church). This year that goal has become frighteningly closer to reality. The events surrounding the 2018 Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting, held June 12-13 in Dallas, shocked many conservatives.

Events surrounding the 2018 SBC annual meeting

Purging of Dr. Paige Patterson. A few weeks before the SBC annual meeting, the de facto conservative leader of the Southern Baptist movement, Dr. Paige Patterson, was abruptly fired from his position as president of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary by its board. He was subsequently removed from all influence in the denomination, including his keynote speech at the annual meeting. This followed a hysteria-driven, well-orchestrated effort over several months to discredit him for alleged misconduct decades ago. It’s hard to know if the charges were legitimate. He was not given a hearing, nor was his side of the story even sought before judgment was made. Over two dozen major donors to the Seminary sent this well-documented, strongly worded letter expressing their disgust at the corrupt and illegal way that Dr. Patterson was treated. But the board refused to reconsider their actions.

SBC elects new leader who is “accommodating” to homosexuality. At the annual meeting, the SBC overwhelmingly elected J.D. Greear, a moderate pastor who caters to millennials, to be the new president of the denomination. As Bryan Fischer of American Family Radio points out, Greear often goes out of his way to be accommodating to homosexuality in his messages. Greear has told his congregation to “love our gay neighbor more than we love our position on sexual morality” – which seems to many to be completely un-Biblical.

Powerful resolution on LGBT issues submitted at Convention.Dr. Robert Oscar Lopez is the leader of Texas MassResistance and a professor at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. As the Convention began,Dr. Lopez and a group of other Baptist Texas MassResistance activists submitted a powerful resolution on LGBT issues titled On Ministry and Counseling to Lead People from Homosexuality to Heterosexuality.

The resolution basically reiterated fairly standard Christian teaching on homosexuality: Among other things: No one is “born gay” and “cannot change”; To say “I am gay” is a rejection of God’s design. It states: “RESOLVED, the Southern Baptist Convention rejects as heresy any claims that God makes people homosexual…” It went on to say that reparative therapy and similar efforts to free a person from the grip of homosexuality should be supported by the SBC.

Resolution quashed by Convention leadership. Some “moderate” SBC leaders have been on record as opposing any kind of reparative therapy. The Convention adopted over a dozen left-leaning and Social Justice-type resolutions (on gun control, immigration, etc.). Lopez’s resolution was the only one submitted which addressed the LGBT movement’s push against orthodox Christianity. The Resolutions Committee refused to allow it to go to the floor for a vote, claiming that it needed “more clarification.” However, on the last day one of the Texas MassResistance activists was able to come to the podium to speak. He began to call for this resolution to be voted on, but the Chairman interrupted him and announced that the Convention time was over and adjourned the meeting!

Troubling “Revoice” Conference – ties to SBC? Another dangerous component of the LGBT movement’s war on Christianity is the upcoming “Revoice Conference”taking place in St. Louis on July 26-28. It is a slick, well-funded effort targeting Evangelical Christians, to encourage them to accept and embrace homosexuality into their religious life. The stated goal is: “Supporting, encouraging, and empowering gay, lesbian, same-sex-attracted, and other LGBT Christians so they can flourish while observing the historic, Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality.” In other words, it is three days of expert training to equip LGBT activists and their allies to infiltrate Evangelical churches to normalize homosexuality and subvert the teachings of the Gospel. (In addition to all this, the organizers of “Revoice” have a similar conference in October targeting youth pastors to bring the LGBT agenda to church youth.)

Even more troubling is that a number of so-called conservative Southern Baptist Christian leaders have bought into the “Revoice” conference. This article, Trusted SBC and PCA Seminaries Producing LGBTQ Activists, is particularly jarring.

Rev. Tom Littleton forcefully thrown out of convention. Since last year’s MassResistance speech, Rev. Littleton has been prolific in exposing the LGBT agenda permeating the upper echelons of the Southern Baptist Convention. This has clearly angered the guilty parties and their allies. Rev. Littleton attended the SBC annual meeting as a member of the press (not as a church representative) specifically to find out about the ties between SBC leaders and the Revoice conference.

On the first day, June 12, Rev. Littleton caught up with two major SBC leaders, Russell Moore and Al Mohler. Moore denied any knowledge of Revoice (after being informed of it the previous day), and Mohler allowed him to ask some questions — but then their handlers quickly shooed him away. The following day, just before Moore’s question-and-answer session at the podium, Rev. Littleton was suddenly thrown out of the building by the police. Why is there so much secrecy around this issue? This is very disturbing to many conservatives in the church.

Dr. Lopez escalates fight to “Save our Churches”

Most Southern Baptists are completely unaware about the forces that are working to infiltrate their denomination, and the trusted church leaders who are shamelessly compromising Biblical teachings to allow them in. Since the SBC annual meeting, Dr. Lopez has written some illuminating articles and appeared on Christian radio. Here is a sample:

“Sleazy Sex Games and Dirty Politics in the Southern Baptist Convention” – American Thinker, June 19

“Beyond Friendship: LGBT Issues and the Next Stage of Discernment”(written with Rev. Littleton) [NOTE: scroll down for the article]

Dr. Lopez is also planning an exciting new regular MassResistance video program devoted to this subject, tentatively titled “Save Our Churches!” He’s hoping to begin it this month. Watch for more information on that.

This could happen in your church – if it isn’t already happening

The LGBT movement is obsessed with destroying traditional Judeo-Christian belief, and is using its vast resources to infiltrate and subvert churches everywhere. They use very sophisticated techniques. Unfortunately, many church leaders are easy targets for them. It’s happening in one way or another across America – and all over the world. And most good people don’t even realize it until it’s too late, and feel helpless. But MassResistance is devoted to helping all of you fight back!

BEYOND REVOICE PART 1: RECRUITING YOUTH PASTORS ,TARGETING YOUR TEENS.

BEYOND REVOICE : RECRUITING YOUTH PASTORS ,TARGETING YOUR TEENS !  WHO IS NEXT IN THE CROSS HAIRS OF LGBT+ “CHRISTIANITY ”

By Rev Thomas Littleton                                                                                       July 5 2018
Much attention has been brought to focus in the last two months on the July 26th Revoice Conference and yet few SBC and PCA leaders have clearly denounced the bold claim of Revoice to “promote LGBT+ Flourishing  in historic Christian tradition “. Dr  Albert Mohler finally commented in The Briefing on Friday June 22nd but was very careful about his choice of  words -asserting the best about Revoice participants ” It’s very important to take the organizers at their word ….  What’s most important at the onset to recognize is that those who’ve organized this conference are identifying as Christians who adhere to the historic Christian sexual ethic, and what’s also important is to understand that this places this conference in a very different place than others who are also talking about the LGBTQ issues. And some of those others are arguing for a reversal of the historic Christian biblical understanding of sexual morality and of sexual behavior. ” Dr. Mohler DOES NOT MENTION  that Nate Collins ,the founder and president of Revoice , spent 14 years at Mohler’s SBTS, has two degrees ,a full academic specialty on gender and related topics , and  has presented his writings as an SBTS Scholar.  Mohler DOES NOT MENTION the Revoice ideology is based on Dr. Mark Yarhouse who was commissioned by TGC to develop the whitepaper used by Seminaries, Christian universities and  campus ministries like RUF, CRU , and InterVarsity  which has now come full bloom in July’s Revoice “LGBT+ and Queer Christian “Conference. While ignoring these realities as he has will Dr. Mohler ALSO IGNORE that his disciple is taking the Revoice message to TEENS in our churches to CULTIVATE  LGBT+ identity via the YOUTH PASTORS ?
Now it is time for all Evangelical Leaders like Dr. Albert Mohler of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary , Russell Moore of the Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission , and The Gospel Coalition co-founders Tim Keller and D. A. Carson to step forward and denounce Revoice and this surge mainstreaming LGBT+ Christianity. There is NO OTHER OPTION  if they plan on having any remaining credibility whatsoever. The movement behind this radical effort to normalize LGBT+ in the church is in full step with the tactics and goals of Human Rights Campaign and Planned Parenthood .These secular entities have not forgotten the church plays a major role in opposition to their goals and they need to subdue it- seduce it and DESTROY THE CHURCH . HRC and Planned Parenthood  love to bypass parents and family and promote their agenda directly to youth at ANY AGE as  a HUMAN RIGHT.  HRC LOVES  to capitalize on the conflicted emotions of people  and their faith, of people and their gay family ,of parents and children.
Is the church about to be led to do the same?
Is this IDEOLOGY not out to target TEENS with the total LGBT+ package as the next STOP on the Revoice founder and worship leaders TOUR begin RECRUITING  the YOUTH MINISTERS ? Youth and new young, inexperienced ,idealistic  ministers can and will bypass parents, senior staff members at churches  and embolden those students who have sympathies toward the cultural popularization of “its hip to be LGBT+” . Trans is the new PUNK for awkward teens seeking attention and to be an ally of LGBT+ friends is GLSENs dream for  the Gay /Straight Allies movement . Now the effort is to bring it HOME to the HOUSES  of worship!

In October 2018 two of the key leaders of the Revoice  Conference , Nate Collins (SBTS) and Gregory Coles  (endorsed by The Gospel Coaltions D. A. Carson and many others) will be speaking in Cincinnati Ohio at the DEVOTED FOR YOUTH PASTORS  Conference along with a  ministry entitled LOVEboldly . Collins is on the Board of LOVEboldly Inc. and it carries endorsements from Emergent heretic  Brian MCLaren, who in 2012 presided over a Same Sex marriage of his son Trevor and is considered one of the leading figures in the train wreck of postmodernism infiltration into mainstream Christianity . DESCRIPTION
(NOTE   No mention is ever made about teen/youth escaping identity of LGBT+ Christain )

“Saddled with expectations from parents, congregation members, denominations, and the leaders who hired them, youth and young adult pastors face a unique challenge in providing effective pastoral care to their LGBTQ+ student. Is it possible to maintain a traditional Biblical view on sexuality, yet remain devoted to the youth in your care who identify as LGBTQ+? Join us for this one-day seminar that will equip you to take practical steps towards loving the LGBTQ+ students in your community with a new boldness, while avoiding common pitfalls that erode relationships, harm your students, and damage those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Presenters will offer a Biblical framework for reconciliation that frees Christians to emulate Christ’s incarnational love without compromising deeply held beliefs on sexuality. Hone your skills and practice strategies for building “treasonous friendships” across deep theological and ideological divides that typically challenge our loyalty to one another. Invite God to guide you towards deeper healing in your closest relationships and gain practical take-home skills and tools to inform your life of ministry.

LGBTQ+ Christians will share their personal stories and insights towards answering your toughest questions and challenges in your life of ministry.”

REVOICE FOUNDER ,ALBERT MOHLER DISCIPLE,  TARGETING YOUTH PASTORS

Nate Collins  and Gregory Coles are working with Alan Chambers who is well known for having dismantled  Exodus International from within after becoming its last president .
Devoted looks to bypass adult staff and parents and reach out to the youth pastor to help him/her provide effective  “pastoral care” for LGBT+ student in their/your church youth group. Collins who ,again, honed his expertise at Dr. Albert Mohlers Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Gregory Coles who has received hearty  endorsements of TGC and many in the PCA/ SBC camp (including the “Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood ” currently headed by Denny Burk) have just what a confused teen needs in your church youth group. A person who spent 14 years at Dr. Mohlers SBTS and still identifies as “homosexual  in a mixed orientation  marriage ” and Coles  who identifies as  a”single Gay Celibate Christian ” may be able make some of the cultures most desperately wrong narratives seem normal to the young believers hearts and minds.

“Dr. Nate Collins, (PhD, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is the president and founder of Revoice, an evangelical organization that supports, encourages, and empowers gay, lesbian, same-sex attracted and other LGBT Christians so they can flourish while observing the historic Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality. Speaking from his own experience as a gay man in a mixed orientation marriage, Collins is committed to helping faith communities include LGBT people in the family life of the church. He is the author of All But Invisible: Exploring Identity Questions at the Intersection of Faith, Gender, and Sexuality (Zondervan, 2017). Nate has been married to his wife, Sara, for thirteen years, and they have three children.”

Greg

“Greg Coles is a piano player, a baker, a writer, a worship leader, and a Ph.D. candidate in English, not necessarily in that order. He grew up on the Indonesian island of Java, where he fell in love with language learning his older brother’s SAT vocabulary words and reading Shakespeare’s Hamlet at age 8. Greg is the author of Single, Gay, Christian: A Personal Journey of Faith and Sexual Identity (InterVarsity Press, 2017). His fiction and expository writing have been published by Penguin Random House and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and he writes about his obsession with Jesus at gregorycoles.com. His academic research on rhetorics of marginality (how language works in society for disadvantaged groups) has appeared in College English and Rhetorica.

PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE
( As the researcher who broke the Revoice concerns  it should be noted that those concerns are even greater now given the intentional targeting of TEENS in our churches . My wife and I returned in 2010 to the church she had grown up in named  Shades Mountain Independent Church (SMIC) near Birmingham AL. The family of my wife helped found the church under a wonderful ,evangelistic pastor and it was ,in reputation, one of the most conservative congregations in the city. Under a new pastor  Harry Walls ,20 years later, the church had aligned with The Gospel Coalition. This was not widely known. The DNA by this time was the trusted conservative reformed influence  of John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in CA. and in 2011 the church converted to an elder led governance.
In spite of deep pastoral ties to Masters College and Seminary SMIC was following in the Lausanne and Tim Keller mode of “City Reaching” with its primary outreach ministry. These efforts included ministry ties to Government funding and progressive politics ,especially on LGBT issues under the Obama administration . Several very disturbing events took place over a 3 to 3 1/2 year period. A book by a Gay Celibate Priest Sam Allberry (who now endorses Revoice ) was given to our church teens without Parents being allowed to screen it and soon after this a teen of 14 yrs old began to openly self identify as the opposite gender. The teen was allowed to remain active in the youth group influencing other teens. By 2015 that same gender confused teen worked as a mentor at the churches VERY popular and trusted “conservative” Summer youth CAMP WITH OVER 900 CHILDREN AGE 6-9 ATTENDING .
After three years of expressing GROWING concerns as these events and as others unfolded, in November 2015 my wife and I were branded as troublemakers in a failed attempt to force church discipline by the relatively novice elder Board. By April 2016 , while we were out of  town , my wife and I were identified and announced from the pulpit to be in some unspecified sin. This was the first of TWO such announcements. The lead Pastor Harry Walls had retired in the midst of these concerns and moved  to CA to work at Masters College (now University) and would not engage the issues left behind.
Other compromises with the LGBT movement continued unaddressed especially related to the outreaches of the once evangelistic congregation. Our concerns over INFILTRATION  within church youth groups, youth events  and youth pastors by the LGBT movement remain on VERY HIGH ALERT  for obvious reasons. Given the message of Revoice is now TARGETING Teens through the Youth Pastors, we cannot be SILENT about such deception.
Revoice mentor Preston Sprinkle and his organization Center for Faith , Sexuality , Gender  play  a key role in the movement and Revoice in particular and yet, like Mohlers ties to Collins, John MacArthur / Masters Seminary provided two degrees and perhaps ordination to Preston Sprinkle . Still , like Dr Mohler , John MacArthur has not spoken to this issue and concerns. It is our sincere hope that someone of high regard among evangelicals will rise up and call their disciples to account and openly DENOUNCE and  REPUDIATE   Revoice it’s ideology of “LGBT+/ Queer Christianity ” and the movement in TOTAL. Time will tell and yet the movement is advancing rapidly.  )
FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE
Christian Psychologists can’t provide a Biblical narrative for human sexuality while compliant with the America Psychological Association and yet  the work of TGC/ ERLC / CBMW and MANY  seminaries including SBTS and Covenant Seminary (PCA) in St Louis (where Revoice is being held) all welcome the work of Psychologist Mark Yarhouse who TGC commissioned in 2010.
In 2016 LOVEboldly did a conference called RESTORE with Mark Yarhouse and the formerly side B Celibate – suddenly flipped to side A gay affirming -Julie Rodgers . Rodgers was on staff at the Chaplains office at Wheaton until she flipped to affirm open homosexuality and gay marriage just after Obergefell SCOTUS decision . Rodgers is a personal  hero of many in the Revoice line-up though they claim adherence  to side B -celibacy or “mixed orientation  marriage “as their “Christian Sexual Ethic”  Mark Yarhouse develops ,including in his work for TGC/ Christ on Campus  Initiative for Trinity Evangelical Divinity School , the case for establishing the validity of Sexual Orientation and thus a Sexual Identity . He then facilitates the pathway to merging Sexual identity with Faith Identity equaling Gay Christianity or LGBT+ Christianity . Yarhouse most often prefers using the phrase “Sexual Minority ” in the church. He has also done extensive development of gender theory for the church and according to Dr. Albert Mohler , asserts that “Gender Reassignment surgery is the most viable answer for some who experience Gender Dysphoria “. Yet even Dr. Mohler who owns Sexual Orientation denies the possibility of Surgery as an answer to GD that reflects “a Biblical Worldview”. Still Dr. Yarhouse work is reflected and core to Revoice and LOVEboldly and much of the work of founder/ board member Collins. It should be noted that Julie Rodgers is soon to be married and her fiance ,a woman ,is tied to pro LGBT group the Human Rights Campaign.

NATE COLLINS AND RUSSELL MOORE’S ERLC:HOW CLOSE ARE THEY ? WHISTLE BLOWERS NEEDED. WHEN WILL THE FULL STORY OF ERLC COMPROMISE BE KNOWN ?
Nate Collins sees Russell Moores ERLC as an LGBT+ ally in his 2016 BLOG  entry .
“Give to a charitable organization that either helps LGBT people in crisis, offers Christ-focused support services, or promotes awareness, dialogue, and peace as genuine Christian values. LoveBoldly, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, and the Gay Christian Network are all good options, as well as the GoFundMe site for the victims and their families.

LOVEboldly  Missions Statement

“Empowering willing Christians, LGBT+, and same-sex attracted individuals to step towards loving one another boldly.

Our vision is one in which reconciliation to God, self, and others at the intersection of faith, sexuality, and gender identity is made possible. We are deeply persuaded that agreement with one another’s political, theological, moral, or philosophical perspectives is not essential for moving towards loving one another boldly. Instead, we can emulate the God who moved into our neighborhood and befriended us while we were still God’s enemies. In an attempt to model God’s self-sacrificial love, demonstrated in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ, we dedicate ourselves towards living the following values. ”

Further Values Stated by  LOVEboldly

Core Values

God moved into our neighborhood and befriended us while we were still God’s enemies. In an attempt to model God’s self-sacrificial love, demonstrated in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ, we dedicate ourselves towards living the following values.

Offensive Sanctuary: We will not exclude anyone from the table or from the conversation, no matter how inglorious their presence may be.

Treasonous Friendship: We will not permit personal or communal loyalties to ideology, labels, or tribes to prevent us from befriending each other.

Conflicted Conviction: We will not trample over or ridicule each other’s beliefs, even though they make us wildly uncomfortable.

Subversive Listening: We will not ignore or invalidate each other’s stories, knowing that to listen is to invite change in the world’s systems and in ourselves.

Narrative Honesty: We will not shy away from honoring truth wherever it is found.

Insolent Kindness: We will not fail to be good to each other, always honoring the dignity and inherent worth of every human being.

Obstinate Loyalty: We will not give up on or dismiss each other, no matter how angry a conversation makes us.

THEOLOGY AND POLITICS ASIDE  TO GAIN THE “THIRD WAY”

Our Statement of Beliefs
We are deeply persuaded that agreement with one another’s political, theological, moral, or philosophical perspectives is not essential for moving towards loving one another boldly.

BRIAN MCLARENS ENDORSEMENT of LOVEboldly
“I’m a huge fan of LOVEboldly. They are accomplishing pivotal reconciliation work in the conversation on faith, sexuality, and gender identity. Their efforts make safe spaces for dialogue between LGBTQ and conservative Christians alike, breaking down stereotypes that often divide us.”
Albert Mohler commented on in 2005 on the destructive influences of Brian McLaren and yet his SBTS graduate and NT Instructor Nate Collins work is  endorsed by McLaren.

“McLaren effectively ransacks the Christian tradition, picking and choosing among theological options without any particular concern for consistency. He rejects the traditional understanding of doctrine as statements of biblical truth and instead presents a variant of postmodernism–effectively arguing that doctrines form a language that is meaningful to Christians, even if not objectively true. He claims to be arguing for “a generous third way beyond the conservative and liberal versions of Christianity so dominant in the Western world.” …

“The Emergent movement represents a significant challenge to biblical Christianity. Unwilling to affirm that the Bible contains propositional truths that form the framework for Christian belief, this movement argues that we can have Christian symbolism and substance without those thorny questions of truthfulness that have so vexed the modern mind.”

DESTROYING EXODUS INTERNATIONAL AND CONVERSION THERAPY – A MANDATE  CARRIED OUT BY ALAN CHAMBERS AND SOON ECHOED BY ALBERT MOHLER AND RUSSELL MOORE : LOVEboldly/ DEVOTED YOUTH PASTORS CONFERENCE NOW ALIGN .
Alan Chambers served as president of Exodus International for 12 years, garnering WORLD magazine’s “Daniel of the Year” designation in 2011 for upholding historic Christian doctrine teaching on sexuality and helping offer compassionate help for homosexuals who sought to leave the lifestyle behind. (https://world.wng.org/2011/12/2011_daniel_of_the_year) Shortly after that, Chambers began to reveal his new and troubling views on homosexuality, such as saying unrepentant homosexuals can be saved. Against the wishes of other Exodus leaders, Chambers shuttered Exodus in 2013, apologizing to the LGBT community for the “pain and hurt” Exodus had caused. Today, Chambers works openly as an LGBT activist, embracing so-called “gay” marriage , denouncing Reparative Therapy, Attending PRIDE Parades, and preaching at Washington National Cathedral during LGBT PRIDE month.

CHRISTIANS SHOULD CELEBRATE GAY PRIDE? REALLY?

LOVEbolbly And Nate Collins Advocate Christians  Attend /Participate in PRIDE Parades.

Few American Christians would ever consider attending or taking their children to a PRIDE event given the near nudity , Sadomasochistic displays , and historically offensive behaviors for which these events had become known. Yet LOVEboldly  participates .

A little rain won’t stop us from sharing God’s love at #CincyPride today!

despite the fact the June events  mark the celebrations of the “Stonewall  Inn riots rooted in sexual liberation, gay prostitution , drug abuse , corruption between some NYPD officers and the Mafia who owned the Greenwich gay bars and exploited the gay community extorted closeted customers who patronized them.
Collins Blog Post June 13th 2016
“If your conscience permits you, attend a gay pride event this month. Not many straight conservative folks know that gay pride events commemorate the Stonewall riots that took place on June 28, 1969, and are an occasion for LGBT people to remember the violence against their humanity that that event represents. In my opinion, a conservative Christian can attend a gay pride event in solidarity with the shared humanity we all have as image-bearers of God”

“We are called to the wait of the Christian, which is called hope. It is an active waiting; it knows that, even in the worst of situations, even in the darkest times, God is powerfully at work, even if we cannot see it clearly right now.”

COLLABORATION IS NOT ALWAYS SAFE AND SOUND OR HARMLESS
Nate Collins, though a Southern  Baptist Theological Seminary graduate and instructor
has no problem working on the Board , fundraising and speaking at conferences for LOVEboldy , involving themselves with  Brian McLaren, Alan Chambers, Sojourners (Jim Wallis ) , Gay Catholics ,even Jesuit Father James Martin ? Dr. Albert Mohler has no problem with his long time student/ recent graduate / and traveling SBTS scholar sporting credentials representing SBTS and Reformed Southern Baptist  movement’s flagship Seminary? When will it all be enough to persuade Dr. Mohler and others that their disciples are proving problematic enough to speak up? Will Albert Mohler, Russell Moore, ERLC/ TGC  , Tim Keller,  D. A. Carson others go along with the Revoice aims to target our TEENS in our own churches?
ON THE ROAD AGAIN WITH LGBT+ CHRISTIANS
Nate Collins and Gregory Coles are becoming well traveled leaders of the Revoice and Devoted youth movement. In a post on social media the two take a selfie and labeled  it “Roomies 2.0” as they appear to share a room for the night. This issue is not personal simply a matter of those who claim special status as sexual minorities in the church not aslo be allowed to be given exempt status on standards of personal ethics/ purity and the avoidance of the appearance of evil .

Sharon They do have a sort of innocent yet mischievous smiles on them. 😁
This is , again, not an attempt to be personal and involved in private affairs of these two people but given claims by Albert Mohler and his circle of Revoice reviewers of the creators and speakers of Revoice “commitment to a Christian Sexual  Ethic” it is honest to ask “what other SBC/ PCA/ ERLC /TGC ministers would be allowed to room together as  a married Heterosexual man to a single heterosexual female who were traveling in ministry together . What other exception to the rules are expected for the church to make ? Again ,what about even the AVOIDING the mere appearance of EVIL?
Revoice speakers ,including Collins came down heard of Conservative Resurgence icon Paige Patterson in the Jonathan Merritt (pro LGBT+ / SBC writer) led assault with NO “selfie” picture of Patterson with a single young female room mate . Where is the fairness and Christian LOVE here? If this is not as implied – the two guys rooming together while traveling , perhaps Nate Collins and Gregory Coles can meet in an open forum with this writer and some other former homosexuals now born of the Spirit and identified ONLY as new creations  in Christ who were refused reservations for Revoice in St Louis . Many would welcome such a sit down for discussion/ debate and in an open forum for Q and A.

I haven’t shared nearly as many articles about recent revelations of sexism in the upper echelons of the Southern Baptist Convention as I’ve wanted to (#selfcontrol), but when I see female SBC leaders I respect amplify a specific perspective on the matter, I think it’s important to use my voice to support them.

More than 2,500 Southern Baptist women have signed a petition denouncing denomination leader Paige Patterson.
CONCLUSION
The church is rapidly being taken into dangerous waters where entire denominations have crashed into the rocks of unbiblical /heretical assumptions  and been crushed by the winds and waves of prevailing cultural antagonism to God , the Gospel ,His Word and Christian Faith. What is most different here  today is the COMFORTABLE MIXTURE  of left  and right, or Biblical and extra biblical , theology and philosophy , deadly sexual ideology and boast of fidelity to creation, and above all the MIXTURE of DARKNESS  and LIGHT .
Add to that the fact that many of these players out to “Promote LGBT+ FLOURISHING  in historic Christian tradition ” come from our own conservative institutions and seminaries and wear the brand and approval and credentials of some of our most TRUSTED leaders like Albert Mohler, Russell Moore, Tim Keller and D. A. Carson. Where does it end ? If these leaders and others do not speak up- the movement behind Revoice will be in your church, your youth group and the hearts and minds of your teens  -brought to your HOME from the most unlikely source – your CONSERVATIVE BIBLICAL CHURCH !
This cannot be . IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THE LORD HIMSELF WILL ALLOW IT.
2nd Corinthians 6:14- 17  ” Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”
