ACTON INSTITUTE’S JOE CARTER LEAVING: WHO WILL COORDINATE LGBT/ JUSTICE / POLITICAL NARRATIVES OF ERLC/TGC NOW?

MAKE NICE TO YOUR GAY NEIGHBORS -FOCUS ON FAITH AND WORK -COMMON GOOD AND VOTE LEFT OF CENTER .THE MESSAGE OF ACTONS JOE CARTER TO EVANGELICALS

Rev Thomas Littleton                                                                                                 8/24/ 2019

Just a short 2 years after public attentions were drawn to the fact the chief editor for The Gospel Coalition and Communications Specialist for SBC’s Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission under Russell Moore also held a “day job” with Libertarian Catholic think tank Acton Institute – Joe cater is leaving Acton. The question now is “who will coordinate the messages of TGC/ ERLC /and the Catholic social justice politics of Acton Institute ?”. But don’t  lose any sleep over it. No doubt they have someone in mind .

“Unfortunately, though, it means giving up some other roles I love. After more than 8 years I’ll be leaving the @ActonInstitute. It has been an honor to work at one of the world’s best think-tanks, and I’ll be sad to leave all my wonderful colleagues. 2/3

ACTON ARTICLE BIDDING JOE ADIEU
“For nearly eight years, Senior Editor Joe Carter has been a mainstay of the PowerBlog. Not only have readers come to expect his daily PowerLinks but Joe’s numerous contributions (let’s enumerate: 4,400 posts!) on just about every topic we tackle here have been unfailingly helpful. Joe truly understands Acton’s “markets and morality” way of looking at the world and gave readers concrete ways of understanding often difficult concepts from economics, theology, social science and politics.”
“On Sept. 6, Joe will post his last entry to the PowerBlog. He is leaving to take a pastoral position at McLean Bible Church in Arlington, Virginia, where he’ll focus on discipleship and outreach. Previously, Joe helped to plant Grace Hill Church in Herndon, Virginia, where he served as an elder.”

Joe Carter

In addition to serving as Senior Editor here, Joe, who recently turned 50, was an editor for The Gospel Coalition, a communications specialist for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, and an adjunct professor of journalism at Patrick Henry College.

JOE CARTER DRAFTING A NEW POLITICAL NARRATIVE FOR SBC AND PCA FOLK
Few knew that Carter was hired to work alongside Russell Moore  when the ever controversial Democrat  Moore ascended the throne of the ERLC but the stark departure from the Conservative message of the Southern Baptist ethics offices were obvious from day one.

“For years, as the principal public voice for the Southern Baptist Convention, the country’s biggest evangelical group, Richard Land warned of a “radical homosexual agenda” and pushed for a federal ban on same-sex marriage.”

“His successor, Russell Moore, sounded a different note when the Supreme Court in June struck down the federal Defense of Marriage Act. “Love your gay and lesbian neighbors,” Mr. Moore wrote in a flier, “How Should Your Church Respond,” sent to the convention’s estimated 45,000…”

SIGNALING CHANGE -ESPECIALLY IN TONE TOWARD “GAY NEIGHBORS” KEY TO ACTON/ERLC MESSAGING

Moore Followed up his October WSJ IN 2013 with a total overhaul of the ERLC/ SBC message on homosexuality and marriage with a 2014 conference in which he and SBTS President Albert Mohler “embraced homosexual orientation / abandoned ex gay therapies and introduced an entire HERD of the Same Sex Attracted but celibate “homosexual Christians” to Southern Baptist Conversation. These SSA but celibate included Sam Allberry -a gay Church of England priest , Christopher Yuan now a rising star in the conference circles as Allberry’s star is fading after his ministry announced plans with Tim Keller to “Audit the LGBT Inclusion “culture in your church. Also among those whose narratives were being “message shopped ” around Conservative Christians was Rosaria Butterfield who urges, along with Allberry, that Baptist and PCA people ” support (SSA ) single adoption and foster care and be “hospitable ” i.e. welcome LGBTQUIAA+ people into the church. As the 2014 conference unfolded the media delighted that “Southern Baptist and gays break bread together …”

Moore’s newly hired ERLC staffers boasted to LGBT activist invited to attend the 2014 conference that “Moore is rebranding the entire organization and the SBC”

ERLC /ACTON/ INSPIRATION

Moore , Mohler. with the help of Joe Carter and TGC  and the once radical gay activist /turned Catholic priest Actons co-founder and Carter’s  boss Father Sirico have never looked back.

Actons Father Sirico’s history is discussed in detail in the account of the gay movement in Catholic and gay publications

JOE CARTER HAS ALSO HELPED TGC AND ERLC DRIVE THEIR POLITICAL MESSAGING WHILE SAYING CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS “HAVE BEEN TOO POLITICAL “

Carter has played a key role in the ERLC/ TGC “never Trump ” and “Third Way ” political narrative .

Why Evangelicals Are Divided over Trump

Carter  has also coordinated as editor of TGC and Communications specialist  for ERLC-the attacks on conservative icons like Judge Roy Moore .

CO-MINGLING THE MESSAGE CARTER’S ACTON LEGACY

At no point in modern evangelical history has the message of the Gospel been more mingled with and tainted by progressive social and political content than in the last decade. TGC and ERLC have been at the epicenter of the intersection of these “incompatible streams of influence” of conservative Christianity and a relentless call to progressive social and political engagement.

EVANGELICAL  DEEP STATE EXPOSED

Joe Carter has played a significant although stealth role in the Evangelical  Deep State for some time . His role and that of Acton and the history of his boss Father Sirico were  exposed in 2017 .

LAMPOONING THE REALITY

The very existence of coordination between the Acton Institute -Social Justice focus and funding and the messaging of TGC aND ERLC is reason to provide pause for evangelical readers. The stealthy approach and sharp left turn of the message proved that concerns are valid.Efforts to lampoon the very existence of the coordination provide the solid proof of the felt need to protect itself .

SBC Deep State Has Been Discovered … Join Now!

JOE CARTER’S REVOICE LGBTQ+ CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT PAL SENT OUT TO DEFEND EVANGELICAL DEEP STATE IN PARODY ARTICLE

https://mereorthodoxy.com/7-things-know-evangelical-deep-state/

Sample of the parody article :

“And indeed Sirico is perpetually tipping his hand: a recent post on the Acton Institute’s “PowerBlog” uses the unmistakable phrases “social justice” and “common good” along with historical materialist buzzwords like “heart” and “virtue.” Indeed, the word “social” appears over 34 times in that one post alone. In fact, it appears 35 times.”

The absurd parody of the Evangelical Deep State by the very people who are part of it  was published by Joe Carter friend and former  co-editor of Carter’s first blog  -Matthew Lee Anderson. Anderson is also a KEY leader in the Revoice LGBT+ Flourishing Movement in the SBC/ PCA denominations . The fact is even the parody article is a product of the careful coordination of Joe Carter .

PARODY IN “GOOD COMPANY” WITH LEFT WING EXTREME

Why are Joe Carter and Anderson echoing Right Wing Watch in attack?

Anti-LGBTQ Pastor Fears An ‘Evangelical Deep State’ May Be Making The Church More Tolerant

“Later in the article, Littleton goes on to name faith leaders who have expressed sympathies for LGBTQ people and worked to make their churches more inclusive. These leaders, he believes, are part of a larger conspiracy to detach the church from its anti-LGBTQ stance.”

Odd that Carter and Anderson are so instep with the Right Wing Watch in attacking the messengers exposing their own coordinated  messages …or is it?

Talking Politics with Joe Carter and Matt Anderson

Back in 2010

“Trevin Wax Today, I’m posting an email conversation between myself, Matthew Lee Anderson and Joe Carter about the current political climate and what role evangelicals are playing in the upcoming mid-term elections. I hope you enjoy listening in”

FAR DEEPER ERLC / TGC TIES TO REVOICE LGBT+ FLOURISHING

Joe Carter is considered by some in Christian Journalism to have been the ERLC/ TGC “attack dog”. Many who share this view see Carter as having enjoyed his role immensely. What does the future hold for Joe? He is headed to work for David Platt the once popular- now fading star in the SBC who is pastoring McLean Bible Church founded by Lon Solomon .

“He is leaving to take a pastoral position at McLean Bible Church in Arlington, Virginia, where he’ll focus on discipleship and outreach. Previously, Joe helped to plant Grace Hill Church in Herndon, Virginia, where he served as an elder.”

SJ WARRIORS DAVID PLATT AND JOE CARTER -YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER

Congregants at McLean Bible may not deserve to be subjected to “Mean Joe Green” Carter  along side the ceaseless weeping and tearful appeals of David Platt reminiscent of Tammy Faye Baker’s “mascara fundraising” on PTL . BUT the two ERLC/ TGC mouthpieces certainly do deserve one another. Don’t tune in unless you have a strong stomach for manipulation tactics of every extreme.

For those who are weary of the coordinated message of the ERLC/ TGC with Acton’s progressive narrative- Joe will not be missed . However for those who love the incessant droning of the TGC/ERLC stable of writers and social commentators- fear not -there or hundreds of Cater Clones trained to take his place. Perhaps TGC/ERLC Christianity  Today -Trevin Wax will be the “new next wave JoeJoe Carter. Trevin seems a likely candidate for the soiled shoes of Carter .

FEAR NOT

Neither those who care not nor those who can’t get enough will have to wait long for Carter’s replacement .

Plus we all have the 2020 election cycle playing out with “Weird uncle Joe” Biden to keep us informed or entertained depending on your political perspective . If you have followed the lead of TGC/ ERLC/ Acton and their political narrative -it is possible you might be considering a vote from “Creepy Uncle Joe” out of Christian Conviction . Let us hope and pray Evangelical Christians are not that stupid or under the spell of the Joe Carter/ TGC/ ERLC/ Acton SPIN.
