DE&I activism is not seeking to advance the role of the church and the Gospel in the world because IT CANNOT – because it is in direct opposition to it. This is really very simple. The SBC and others inside the church have invited organizations who hold and esteem and boast values totally antithetical to the church,to the Bible and to God. Can two walk together except they are agreed? Obviously not. Amos 3:3 is God asking a rhetorical question. )
IN THE LATE 70’s SOUTHERN BAPTIST RALLIED TO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO BIBLICAL FIDELITY THROUGH EMBRACING INERRANCY.THE SEX ABUSE “INVESTIGATION” PARTNERS LOOK POISED TO REVERSE THAT AND RESHAPE A DENOMINATION IN THEIR OWN DE&I IMAGE.
From all indicators related to the culture driving the “Sex Abuse Investigation” inside Southern Baptist , someone deep inside the Southern Baptist Convention has set the movement up for a grand fall into apostasy. One clear player is Russell Moore who is Albert Mohler’s long time assistant and protege’. Moore may be out from the inside of an SBC entity and budget but is still firmly able to use his new Christianity Today position to accuse, besmirch, and point fingers at Baptist who educated him, paid his salary for decades and trusted him to be their lobbyist and PR spokesperson.
When entering the national spotlight as the new head of the Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission – Moore was quick to engage his own political leanings- declare the culture war “over and lost” and tell Baptist THEY needed to “be winsome and love our gay and lesbian neighbors”. Why ? To Moore’s thinking it is because their conservative resistance to the war being waged ON the church, in Moores’ words, was”hurting the Gospel. This has remained his and the ERLC narrative. Conservative Resurgence believers committed to Biblical inerrancy and “Faith and Family values” in their cultural engagement and politics- and worse yet- in their voting habits “are the problem” and are a hindrance to the advance of the Gospel in the culture.
Forget that the culture is racing toward its own demise as proven by history and warned about repeatedly and prophetically in Scripture.
MOORE’S ROLE IN THE SEX ABUSE INVESTIGATION
“Leaked ” emails from Moore accusing the SBC Executive Committee of “covering up sex abuse ” and the Southern Baptist being “filled with racism” led to the call for the formation of the “Task Force” in 2021 which immediately hired Guidepost Solutions.

EVERY OTHER questions were all replied to with the same phrase… “I will NOT SPEAK TO THAT”.
It is indeed difficult to imagine that this repeated statement is to be taken as an appropriate or adequate RESPONSE to a short series of questions by a Southern Baptist whose church members paid for the $2 million investigation. It DOES INDICATE something. It certainly provides enough air of suspicion to indicate the organization Guidepost Solutions AND it’s PR firm do not want to be forthcoming …which is another way…a nice way … to say “they are making it sound as if they HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE
If they DO have something to hide,which is disturbing to the average Christian in a Southern Baptist Church, then exactly WHAT ARE THEY HIDING from Christians who just paid them $2 million Dollars and whose past , present and futures Guidepost Solutions have now been given AN ALL ACCESS PASS ?

SO WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL OVER DIVERSITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION AND THE SOUTHERN BAPTIST “INVESTIGATION”.
Albert Mohler’s disciple Russell Moore has been pushing social change related to Southern Baptist and culturally trending race and LGBTQ narratives since he took office atthe ERLC in 2013. He followed through with a 2014 conference called” The Gospel Homosexuality and the Future of Marriage where he and Albert Mohler spoke, apologized for and accused Baptist while welcoming HRC and other radical LGBTQIA+ activist groups to attend .They never disclosed that a PRIVATE -HIDDEN BEHIND CLOSED DOORS meeting with HRC and other activist took place during that ERLC 2014 conference .
Moore by 2018 was covering for his own ERLCs involvement in the divisive and destructive Revoice conference and movement which was spawned at Mohler’s Southern Baptist Theological Seminary by a 15 year SBTS student turned SBTS New Testament Professor. Revoice has gone on to split the conservative PCA denomination due to a PCA church hosting and providing leadership in Revoice “LGBT+ Thriving in Historic (conservative church) Traditions”.
NOTE: In 2018 Moore’s people at ERLC are known to have lied to both the Dallas police and SBC messengers in order to cover for Revoice ERLC involvement and had this writer removed from the SBC meetings as a reporter for Worldview Weekend News. Moore still was forced by messengers to respond to Revoice concerns and totally denied any knowledge of it though a specific discussion of Revoice and the concerns had indeed taken place between this author and Moore the day before these events. Moore knew about Revoice and denied knowledge of it to messengers at the 2018 Dallas Annaul meetings.
MORE MOHLER CONRIBUTIONS TO THE PRESENT STATE OF SOUTHERN BAPTIST
It was many of Mohler’s people – those he educated and employed who engaged the issues of RACE in the TGC/ERLC social justice and CRT driven MLK/50 event in April 2018 . The same group took up the “cause” of Sex Abuse as the ERLC and JD Greear agreed to the 2018 “investigation” which actually (beyond it’s “Caring Well Conference” and videos and Lifeway booklets for purchase ) was a BRIDGE TO NOWHERE for the actual victims of abuse.
It was Mohler’s Critical Race Theory practitioners who took the stage in 2018 to accuse Baptist of Racism and demand to “Rid the Southern Baptist ” of its “Stain” .The very same Mohler team converted a resolution in 2019 submitted by a pastor to condemn the use and teaching or CRT and Intersectionality ( the launch and landing pads for Diversity Equity and Inclusion) into a resolution AFFIRMING THEM AS “useful analytical tools with the Gospel’. Baptist messengers- guilted and ignorant of Critical Theories and Cultural Marxist tools of the trade voted FOR resolution 9 with much buyers remorse later.
By 2020 the use of CRT was exploding as a national tragedy in public sphere including children’s education and demands to halt and prevent it reached a fever pitch. Albert Mohler’s CRT experts and the grant funding behind them had been firmly in place at Baptist seminaries since at least 2009. Baptist own trusted theologians who played them in 2019 with Resolution 9 had placed them in the boiling cauldron of critical theories years in advance of the secular education system in America. Shameful but true .

Besides these realities- basic truths are left out of measuring , judging and understanding sex- sex abuse- abuse in general. The Bible gives us a firm grasp that human beings have a fallen nature and that the world does not and cannot understand the Word of the Lord. The Gospel is redemptive .There is no Gospel here in these methods – tools – or those who are engaging them. This includes CRT and Intersectionality and DE&I which is SO DEAR TO Guidepost Solutions / its PR firm, GOVERNMENT agencies and the corporate world . They are the church inhabit a different space . And so they should. They represent EXTREMELY DIFFERENT VALUES -as the result of God and His world having recently been displaced in Western Culture.
VICTIMS DO NOT NEED JUSTICE
Victims need something more that justice or a class action settlement.
They need what we all need. MERCY and the ability to truly FORGIVE those who hurt them. The SBC has often failed them with the Gospel and with accountability and worst of all is failing us all by by NOT remaining faithful to the Word of the Lord IN AN INVESTIGATION that reads more like a gossip column or a Reddit Thread on the net. To be blunt the Sex abuse Report is shabby and amateurish and rehashes unproven 5 year old accusations from the news papers, One former Executive Committee Members tweets and a “he said /she said/ they maintain ” and awfully twisted tale of one former Southern Baptist President and a Florida Condo.
Still Baptist entity heads are going through the motions showing contrition and commitment and promises of change to their new masters…Diversity Equity and Inclusion and the new slave holder barrons of corporate compliance.
REMINDER – WOMEN ARE ALSO FALLEN !
A VERY serious FLAW with the #MeToo movement has been the presumptions it brings with it.
“Men are always guilty ” and of course “Women are always the victims” .
Why? Because in a world driven by “correctness” and blind to the reality put forth in the Gospel -societal trendiness and narratives rule. The reality of the Gospel falls on deaf ears . A lost culture cannot see itself or its problems rooted in the Biblical truths that we are all , men and women , fallen and sinful people ,tempted and capable of abuses and massive moral failures and helpless without the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to be anything else. People need Jesus.Men and Women need conviction- repentance -faith -salvation – and a new posture of forgiveness toward the sins of others who sin against them.

When it comes to sin in the church – why would the SBC leadership submit itself- its people and its future to people and organizations whose self affirmed and boasted values ,visions , and goals are antithetical to it and the Word of God?
The Sex Abuse Report prepared by Guidepost Solutions is weak and does not contain much in the line of facts. IT WILL HOWEVER – be long on DE&I compliance and culture shifting demands that will impact Baptist life, families and churches for years.
GOD DOES IN FACT HAVE A DIVINE ORDER FOR FAMILY – FOR MEN- FOR WOMEN -FOR THE CHURCH- FOR BEING HUMAN – SEXUALITY – GENDER – PERSONAL IDENTITY. AND HE HAS A CLEAR MORAL COMPASS FOR PERSONAL CHOICES AND FOR ORDERING SOCIETY AND GOD’S JUSTICE.
It is simply very opposite of the current cultural winds. And everything from the new meaning of marriage (which in this writers state is now just “contract “-a piece of paper)-to the transhumanist virtual world and self reality – to radically inclusive sex education for 3 year olds to Disney’s apparent need to “Queer” the world and all the children in it. We can safely assume the Word of God and God Himself will not change.He will not bow His knee but does demand that every knee will bow to Him and confess that Jesus is Lord. So – taken at His Word – the church and every Christian can simply stand firm and not feel compelled to comply with the shifting narratives and latest ideals of the global citizen manifesto . The church and the Saints have a higher calling and a greater master…one Master. This is very clear in the scripture believers have pledged to take at face value and entrust for eternal hope. In Christ alone. Simple enough?
Apparently this is NOT SO CLEAR to many leaders inside the Southern Baptist.
Accommodation – Pacification – Compliance – Appeasement – Going Along to Get Along and a deadly form of compromise and addiction to outside funding and some warped pragmatic reasoning now rule the day.
BUT God is unchanged by cultural winds and the groundswell of open rebellion. He feels no need to keep His enemies close and happy. He has not made ten “suggestions” or tempered His Commandments by popular opinion polling or surveys. He is simply unmoved and HE knows better than anyone what the metrics of and requirements for global justice ARE. His Justice is NOT the justice that protects evil or justifies those who hide injustice BUT His knowledge and the Holy Standard which reflect His very nature are the only solid – untainted – and truly Redemptive Hope offered in a fallen world.
Few honestly think the world does not need fixing -right?
But can we fix it? Fallen Men and Women ?
Can it be fixed by removing barriers to societal equity ?
Can it be fixed by ever changing narratives built on the shifting sands of a wind blown culture and angry people making their own power plays for self interest and to protect their own hidden histories and agendas? No!
Can accountability or justice be purchased for $2 million or $2 Trillion before the courts of Caesar? No
Only God can truly change anything here .He does it one heart at a time with the Redemptive Power of the Gospel that boast-

“… that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [a]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation”
God Made humans and family and ordained marriage which is HIS own revelation of His relationship to HIS people – the church- which is the Bride of Christ.
Genesis 1: 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
This is what Biblically adherent Christians including Baptist say they believe.This is what Baptist leaders said they believe when they stood for the Bible.
This is the metric – the measure- the standard by which we are to view ourselves and the world around us AND GOD – and we ALL are stakeholders here.
Marriage—Christ and the Church
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
ALL THIS IS UNDER ASSAULT AND – THANKS TO SBC LEADERS -IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO RESPECT FOR IT & REFLECT VALUES TOTALLY OPPOSED TO IT.
GOD IS GOING TO JUDGE THOSE RESPONSIBLE.
Paul points out not only women;s fallen state like men but also some very simple Divine order for the family and the family of God :

1 Timothy 2
“8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.”
THE Tides are turning in the culture in many ways and just normal people are saying enough. The #METOO MOVEMENT IS EBBING AND LIKELY “DEAD” ACCORDING TO THE NEW YORK TIMES … So why have Baptist leaders succumb to corporate raiders pushing politically driven global ideologies to suppress truth and reshape the culture of corporations and society – all of which are DOOMED TO FAIL MISERABLY …and placed itself – the church – God’s bride into the hands of the modern day giants of culture who seek to “Defy the armies of the Living God ” and no doubt defy the Living God Himself?
Lets us ponder these realities set forth in Hebrews 10
The Just Live by Faith
26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
