IT IS PROBLEMATIC ENOUGH THAT THE CHURCH IS GIVEN TO MANIPULATIVE MARKETING PLOYS AND CULTURAL TRENDS BUT IT IS FAR WORSE WHEN THOSE TRENDS ARE ROOTED IN THE OCCULT AND DEADLY MYSTICISM.

In recent years the groundswell of interest in using the Enneagram for gifting and personality test in churches and Christian institutions has now created a virtual bubble which is bound to explode in many messy and harmful ways inside the church.
The Enneagram is best understood by looking at its origins and among other groups who use it. Given its ties to the New Age religious systems and to the Jewish Mysticism -Kabbalah , it is impossible to suggest that the Enneagram is neutral ground or a safe space for believers.
ENNEAGRAM AND KABBALAH
NOTE-The development of the Jewish Mysticism of Kabbalah is at the heart of the idolatry and spiritual practices accumulated by God’s people during years of disobedience, idolatry and captivity which brought them spiritual ruin resulting in utter blindness to their own Heaven sent Messiah – Jesus.
CONFIRMING THE OCCULT ORIGINS AMONG JEWISH MYSTICS WHO CLAIM SPECIAL ENLIGHTENMENT .
“Kabbalah, also spelled Kaballah, Qabalah, or Cabalah, developed between the 6th and 13th centuries among the Jews in Babylonia, Italy, Provence, and Spain. The word “Kabbalah” means “to receive” and refers to revelation from God received by Jews first used by mainstream Judaism but later came to refer to those who believed that only a select few were given the secret knowledge from God as to the “true” meaning of Scriptures. Kabbalah uses occult practices and is considered to be a cult.”
The Relationship between the Enneagram and Kabbalah
Tuesday, September 6, 2022
“The Enneagram is an open source personality typing system that has been developed over millennia by several spiritual traditions. It is a model of nine distinct but interconnected personality archetypes arranged around a star-like shape. For individuals, the Enneagram is used to increase self-awareness, reduce blind spots, and motivate self-management. For families and organizations, the Enneagram is used to improve relationships and interpersonal dynamics. Like the Kabbalistic Tree of Life (the sefirot), the Enneagram is considered a sacred map of consciousness. Like the Tree of Life, the Enneagram reveals the nature of reality and the true essence of our soul underlying the personality that we portray to the world. As Rabbi Howard A. Addison writes in The Enneagram and Kabbalah: Reading Your Soul, “when brought together, the Enneagram and Kabbalah may enhance understanding of humanity’s deepest motivations—both individually and collectively—thus opening wider the gate to personal growth.”

“Jesus dies ‘for’ us not in the sense of ‘a substitute for us’ but ‘in solidarity with’ the suffering of all.” —Richard Rohr
“This Good Friday, contemplative wisdom reminds us that by surrendering his life on the cross out of love for all creation, Jesus places himself in solidarity with all suffering. Richard Rohr writes, “The Paschal Mystery cannot be made clear without Christ’s surrendering love to God. It begins with the Incarnation and culminates in the Resurrection—for him and for each of us!”
“We invite you to join us in spending the day in solidarity with those suffering. As you complete your daily tasks like washing dishes, making dinner, paying bills, or anything else, reflect on how the phrase “I stand with those who are suffering” resonates within your body. What sensations do you experience?”We invite you to join us in spending the day in solidarity with those suffering. As you complete your daily tasks like washing dishes, making dinner, paying bills, or anything else, reflect on how the phrase “I stand with those who are suffering” resonates within your body. What sensations do you experience?”
“THE GOSPEL AND THE ENNEAGRAM“
The movement is growing fast to mainstream the Enneagram as totally compatible with Christian faitha nd discipleship. Jesus is even called a Perfect One – or Perfect Two.. or Five or Six of Nine …which ever helps you “identify with Christ” in your Enneagram experience. Christianity Today editor and former head ethicist for the Southern Baptist Convention is one of the pitchmen for the Gospel Enneagram movement.

ENNEAGRAM IN CHRISTIAN COUNSELING -EXAMPLE OF A CHRISTIAN COUNSELORS VIEW OF IT’S USE.
“BELLEVUE CHRISTIAN COUNSELING “
“The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system. It has various iterations, including one with a strong Christian growth path. For years, Christian spiritual directors used the Enneagram in spiritual direction.”
“The Enneagram was a closely guarded tool not intended for use by the general public. However, across time, use of the Enneagram has moved from that exclusive domain into the hands of everyday people. It has proven to be one of the most valuable tools in helping my clients begin to see themselves more clearly.”
“Over the last several months, I have witnessed some remarkable growth in many of my clients as we have begun to use the Enneagram personality test as a guide for their clinical work.”
FROM “SOUL GRIT RESOURCES ” CHRISTIAN COUNSELING
“Christians, Therapy, and the Enneagram”
“… The Enneagram is not religion. It cannot be substituted for knowledge of the Bible, a relationship with Jesus, or the saving grace of the Gospel. Let’s get that straight first. You need Jesus. Your clients need Jesus. The Enneagram has been a helpful tool for me to understand myself, develop compassion for others, and learn how to point us to the work of Jesus on the cross. If you are reading anything that leads you away from seeking Christ alone, put it down and find a resource that helps you see Jesus more clearly”
ALSO NOTE – Counselors in general are becoming more and more reliant on the Enneagram.

Utilizing the Enneagram in Supervision: Facilitating Self- and Other-Awareness in Supervisees

Westminster School at Oak Mountain PCA Church was the subject on controversy resulting in some significant course correction efforts when the “Conservative ” church school used the Enneagram as a tool for helping the incoming senior class chart education and career paths during an end of Summer Retreat.
A SAN ANTONIO PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ALSO USED THE ENNEAGRAM AS A RETREAT THEME IN 2020.

9 Ways to Wholeness
“The Enneagram is a dynamic system for understanding ourselves (and others). Unlike many of the more static personality typing models, the Enneagram leads us to deep self awareness, and personal transformation, helping us discover our true selves, beyond our ego and default behaviors. The Enneagram doesn’t put you in a box, but helps you see the box you already inhabit (and offers ways to get out!) The nine ways of experiencing and being in the world articulated by the Enneagram, help us live beyond our knee-jerk, default reactions and behaviors, and engage God, the world, and ourselves with fewer obstacles, and more compassion and understanding. In our weekend together, you will gain an understanding of the Enneagram system, identify your number, and cultivate some tools for self awareness and transformation.”
WHERE DOES IT END?
WARNINGS AGAINST THE ENNEAGRAM ARE GOING MOSTLY UNHEEDED – JUST LIKE THE WARNINGS AGAINST OTHER DANGEROUS INFLUENCES ALREADY INSIDE THE CHURCH.
“Richard Rohr and the Enneagram Secret Paperback – April 18, 2020”
“Many in America and indeed around the world attend church to learn about God, to learn about ourselves and to connect with God and others. Along with that is a general belief that the church will be spiritually safe. After all, the best source of knowledge about God comes from His self-revelation which is contained in His inspired, inerrant word, the Bible. Many things can be confusing when trying to figure out the Bible on your own. Pastors and church leaders are looked to and relied on to carefully teach and guide the church family. They are trusted to keep false teaching outside the doors, preventing it from springing up within the church. Unfortunately, false teaching operates on a spiritual level like a virus does on a physical level. A pastor, elder or someone they trust may be introduced to new idea, spiritual tool or concept from what is believed to be a reliable source. It may be embraced as a path to a better understanding of God and self. Perhaps it offers a way to greater spiritual growth and perhaps numerical growth for the church. Even with the best intentions and efforts of spiritual leaders, they become spiritually infected and in turn, pass it on to the flock they care for. We would suggest that is what we have been witnessing with so many who have embraced Richard Rohr and the Enneagram he has delivered into the church through his disciples.”
“The claims for the Enneagram are simple. Supposedly it is an ancient tool used by some of the Early Church Fathers. It is claimed to be the “face of God” and each Enneagram number is an individual spiritual path to deeper spiritual understanding and fuller self-awareness. But what if this is one of the largest deceptions we have seen perpetrated on the church in a very long time?”
CONCLUSION
Co mingling belief systems of the occult and rooted in idolatry do not end well.Nothing good comes from it -never has and NEVER WILL.
Joshua proves that this is not a new problem and answers with the strongest of rebukes.
JOSHUA 24 :
14 “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of [d]the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of [e]the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
16 So the people answered and said: “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods; 17 for the Lord our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way that we went and among all the people through whom we passed. 18 And the Lord drove out from before us all the people, including the Amorites who dwelt in the land. We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God.”
19 But Joshua said to the people, “You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. 20 If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you, after He has done you good.”
