FEW HAVE FULLY GRASP THE DEPTH & SEVERITY OF THE MASSIVE INFLUX OF DARK MONEY IMPACTING CHRISTIAN INSTITUTIONS, MISSIONS ORGANIZATIONS, PULPITS AND VOTING HABITS. HERE ARE THE BULLET POINTS OF JUST ONE ORGANIZATION AND THIS HARSH REALITY .
Rev Thomas Littleton 9/1/2020
In 2010 this researcher discovered the tip of the proverbial iceberg related to outside money influencing ever deepening compromise among Christian leaders. Starting with the broadening of Faith Based Partnerships allowing federal tax dollars to be pumped into the denominations, missions organizations, churches, and local outreach ministries, the groundswell of funding has yet to crest as the evidence of it’s damaging impact becomes ever more undeniable.
TAX MONEY IN CHURCHES -BAD IDEA ESPECIALLY COME ELECTION TIME.
After over a decade of the untraceable billions in tax dollars for FBP- the Covid -19 response flooded yet another $7.3 billion in public funds into churches. For most people the problems these issues represent needs no commentary.
We move on.
By 2013 the wave of Social Justice false gospel was in full swing in conservative evangelical institutions like denominational missions organizations, universities, colleges and seminaries. This information is detailed in the Thirty Pieces of Silver article “Is This The Evangelical Deep State? -parts one and two.
Now fast forward:
In the original expose’ it was documented that Kern Family Foundation ( KFF) and the Acton Institute had driven a “New Evangelical Social Engagement ” which was boasted about in the book by the same name. It also showed the “Social Justice” economics movement around which the curriculum and narrative is based, was in at least 13 major seminaries by that time. KFF confirmed the presence via email in at least 7 Christian universities as well.
GOING OFF SHORE?
By 2014 it was confirmed in local Wisconsin (home of KFF) media outlet that KFF was among the first American foundations to go off shore with part of its operations. Another justice driven and transformative funding source for evangelical leaders and organizations, the Templeton Foundation, reportedly followed Kern off shore to the Cayman Islands. Templeton is a major funding organization for the work of left “justice ” leaning evangelicals like Tim Keller ,
NOTE: There is no tax incentive for a non profit philanthropic organization to go off shore. NONE. Unlike American and other corporations and wealthy individuals who use off shore accounts to shelter earnings and wealth from domestic taxation, a non profit DOES NOT NEED A TAX SHELTER.
WHY go off shore except to hide additional funding using the KFF as a “pass through”,? This practice was made popular by Soros led and funded organization and foundations to HIDE the dark source of funding coming in – going through and out of related organizations in the Soros activist philanthropy. If this is not what KFF and others are doing then they should explain their decision and open their book totally to the Christians whose denominations and institutions they are influencing. Now is a good time to start.
NOTE ALSO : One of the primary influences welcoming the KFF funding into Seminaries and Christian ministries is The Gospel Coalition. By 2014 TGC had one of its more popular Social Justice speakers and leaders living and serving as a pastor in the Cayman Islands. This is the same time frame in which KFF and Acton Institute boosted efforts on the American Christian College/ University and Seminary campuses to fund “The New Evangelical Social ( Justice) Engagement. QUESTION -What other accounts exist that might provide opportunity for need of management in the Cayman Islands ? This is not an accusation but a question that continues to arise given the choice to operate heavily influential philanthropic organizations outside the country and the view of those impacted by them.
The Rise of the Kern Foundation
“The Waukesha-based foundation has quietly grown to assets of $627 million, nearly as big as the Bradley Foundation. It also leans conservative.”
“The Kern Foundation employs some sophisticated investment strategies, including the creation of a Cayman Islands subsidiary. Not too many foundations get into off-shore accounts.”
“The foundation’s staff, besides Senske, includes James Rahn, a Director and President, who receives $332,727 per year for his services, while Program Directors including Karen Wilken, Ryan Olson, Fredrick Oaks, Greg Forster ( Kerns Evangelical recipient vision caster via Oikonmia Network)and Kyle Bode receive between $89,423 and $124,908. …”
Kern has three major program areas:
- K-12 Education Reform
- Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network [KEEN]
- Faith, Work and Economics This is the primary source of the social justice indoctrination among evangelical institutions- a socialist economics/common good narrative.
Also documented in further detail and context of the problems here:
WHY OFF SHORE IS A PROBLEM
Off Shore operations make possible that both the money IN and the money OUT leave no paper trail that can be obtained by inquiry of any kind, especially from the press or a concerned Christian.
NO ONE KNOWS WHOSE MONEY IS COMING IN OR WHERE IT GOES !
Forbes article lauds the benefits of being off shore .

WHAT ELSE DOES KERN FAMILY FOUNDATION FUND?
The next issue is clear when we ask “What other causes does the KFF organization fund?”
PRO LGBTQ EDUCATION ORG TEACH FOR AMERICA FUNDED BY KFF
“Teach for America is not a silver bullet, but it is one important component to an overall educational reform strategy in a community,” said Jim Rahn, president at the Kern Family Foundation, which invested $1.3 million and helped bring the program to Milwaukee. ”
The KFF funding for Teach for America goes back for many years and is still current in 2019/2020
“Welcome, Teach for America members. You have your work cut out for you….Bringing the program to Milwaukee was made possible with a $1 million funding commitment from the Kern Family Foundation, announced in 2007.”
TEACH FOR AMERICA /KFF IN 2013 2014 SAME TIME AS THE EVANGELICAL RAMP UP.
TEACH FOR AMERICA HAS A MASSIVE LGBTQ FOCUS IN PRE- K 3 -12 EDUCATION
“Students of color, those from low-income areas, and those who identify as LGBTQ+ face oppression based on their multiple identities. Teach For America is committed to safety, fairness, and dignity for all students. That’s why we’re taking a stand.”
“Our LGBTQ+ Community Initiative aims to create a more intersectional movement to end educational inequity by encouraging more LGBTQ+ leaders to teach.”
“Taking a Stand on LGBTQ+ Students’ Rights”
“In 2015 Teach For America publicly endorsed both the Student Non-Discrimination Act and the Safe Schools Improvement Act, because all students deserve an equal opportunity to learn and succeed in school, and students who are, or who are perceived to be, lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender are no different.”
“Join a Prism Learning Community”
“Our Prism coalition is a network of LGBTQ+ support groups in each of Teach For America’s regions. The Prism coalition mobilizes TFA alumni leaders, staff members, teachers, and community members to support LGBTQ+ students and educators as we collectively work toward educational equity.”
KFF ALSO FUNDS LIBERAL EDUCATION PBS NETWORK
“ARLINGTON, VA, April 16, 2015– The PBS Foundation has received $2.4 million in grant money from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and The Kern Family Foundation to further the educational mission of PBS KIDS. The funds will support the development of new digital tools and resources that will be leveraged locally by PBS member stations to provide children with a strong foundation for success, encourage family engagement and aid parents and caregivers as they strive to build children of character in communities across the country.”
KERN IS FUNDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ENTIRE DEPARTMENTS FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE DRIVEN ECONOMIC TRAINING ON CONSERVATIVE EVANGELICAL SEMINARY CAMPUSES.
Examples on just two of the Southern Baptist seminaries where KFF has set up Shop.
SEBTS – SBC SEMINARY IN WAKE FORREST
SEBTS, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forrest is home to the KFF funded the “Intersect Project” which has received multiple Kern grants since its establishment. The Intersect Project’s work includes multiple activist causes and Diversity and Inclusion focused on social justice using Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality (hence the name), Black Liberation Theology, and Third Way political engagement narratives.
“Southeastern welcomed over 400 pastors, students and members of the local community on the evening of Friday, March 13th for an evening of conversation addressing faithful interaction with today’s cultural issues.”
“A partnership between The Kern Family Foundation and SEBTS opened the door to examine these topics.”
“To view The Wisdom Forum talks online and access more of the Intersect Project resources, visit intersectproject.org. http://intersectproject.org/ ”
SBTS /AL MOHLER/ SBC FLAGSHIP SEMINARY
SBTS, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is headed by none other than supposed conservative champion Albert Mohler who in 2014 welcomed the Kern funding onto his campus in the “Commonweal Project”.
THE BELOW LINK IS NOW TAKEN DOWN FROM THE SBTS CENTER WEBSITE
“The Henry Institute is proud to feature and sponsor The Commonweal Project at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The Commonweal Project (TCP) is generously supported by The Kern Family Foundation and is led by SBTS professor Ken Magnuson. Magnuson, Director of TCP, leads the project’s steering committee, which consists of Magnuson, Owen Strachan of the Henry Institute, David Kotter (Assistant Director of TCP) of the Institute for Faith, Work, and Economics, and Denny Burk, Director of the Center for Gospel and Culture at Boyce College”.
SPREADING THE JUSTICE AROUND IN PRE K 3-12
“The war against conservative values moves from Christian college campuses, to private K-12 schools. Is homeschooling next?”
“AFTER THE SOCIAL JUSTICE WOKE CULTURE HAS ALL BUT DESTROYED
SEMINARIES AND TWO MAJOR CONSERVATIVE DENOMINATIONS, BAPTIST
EDUCATORS TAKE AIM AT INFILTRATING CHRISTIAN EDUCATION WITH NEW
IACE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION UMBRELLA.”
KFF HOPES CONFIRMED BY IACE
One of the leaders of the IACE “Alliance” confirms the intentions for the new organization to be a hopeful “GOOD FIT FOR KERN FAMILY FOUNDATION…AND OTHER SIMILAR FUNDING”.
KFF IS FUNDING TRANSFORMING OF HEALTH CARE EDUCATION WITH ITS JUSTICE DRIVEN “FAITH AND WORKS” FOCUS “FOR THE COMMON GOOD”.
“Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Institute for the Transformation of Medical Education”
NOTE : $37.8 MILLION IS A HUGE GRANT AND THE PROGRAM IS TO ESTABLISH A TEMPLATE AND AN UMBRELLA ORGANIZATION FOR TRANSFORMING MEDICAL EDUCATION ACROSS ACADEMIA.
“The Kern Institute is dedicated to advancing a new foundation for medical education based on character, competence, and caring. We are advancing innovation by applying human-centered design methodology and the principles of the entrepreneurial mindset: curiosity, connections, and creating value.”
“The Kern Institute is supported by five pillars dedicated to transforming faculty, students, and curriculum, as well as fostering culture and systems change and cross-pillar work. The Kern National Network for Caring and Character in Medicine (KNN) undergirds these pillars and helps ensure the innovations developed, both through the Kern Institute, and collaboratively with our partner schools, are positioned and ready to be adopted into interprofessional practice across medical schools.
WHAT IS THE BIG PROBLEM? WITH KFF OFF SHORE SINCE AT LEAST 2013 -NO ONE ON THE OUTSIDE BEING INFLUENCED BY THESE TRANSFORMATIONAL VISIONS IN PUBLIC EDUCATION, AMERICAN SEMINARIES AND EVEN MEDICAL SCHOOLS CAN KNOW WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM OR WHERE ELSE IT IS GOING .
More on the Kern Family Foundation can be found here but again note that this would not need to include the Cayman Islands information:
FUNDING OPTIONS THAT EMPOWER LIBERAL EDUCATION.
KFF President James Rhan works on the Board of the Charter Schools Growth Fund along side Allan Golston, president of the United States Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation . Charter schools are problematic on multiple levels mixing public and private funding and are popular with the LGBTQ and Islamic education lobby groups. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is also flooding evangelical world with their global agenda driven $$$. Bill Gates and his global pandemic partner Dr. Anthony Fauci work very closely with Francis Collins-the Bio-Logos founder which receives Templeton funding. If you do not know much about the politics of global philanthropy – it is suffice to say it is left agenda and tends to cluster as organizations follow others in their industry with funding.
KFF FUNDED THE OVERTLY POLITICAL THIRD WAY BOOK OF SEBTS PROVOST AND INTERSECT PROJECT LEADER.
Why is KFF investing in the political posture of evangelicals?
“Letters to An American Christian”
“In Letters to an American Christian, Bruce Riley Ashford, author of One Nation Under God, addresses overarching issues of the relationship of Christianity and politics, speaks to the way historic Christian belief informs specific hot-button political issues, and challenges readers to take seriously both our heavenly and earthly citizenships”
“I wish to thank Devin Maddox and Combs of B&H Publishing Group for their commitment to this project and the Kern Family Foundation whose encouragement and support enabled this project to become a reality .”
Ashford also list these Action and Kern thinkers and employees in his appreciation :
“for critical feedback, research editing and proofreading
“Joe Carter- longtime Acton Institute editor , TGC editor , ERLC message man under Russell Moore and Acton Fellow Hunter Baker ”
The Kern Family Foundation funding is not the only problematic funding coming into the evangelical institutions, ministries, denominational structures and ministries but it is one of the most commonly found. The connection to the KFF programs and curriculum and the “social justice” shift in focus in conservative seminaries is undeniable. Other funding organizations with global and justice /common ground for common good/ human flourishing narratives have become all too common place among our institutions. Many other disturbing and agenda driven funding sources exist in addition to KFF grants. These others include Faith Based Partnership, John Templeton Foundation which funds “religious” work among those who seek to wed science and faith and subscribe to no sacred text”.Also we find the funding of George Soros, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (Gates is at the epicenter of the Pandemic and Vaccine Industries and is VERY CLOSE partnership with evangelicals like Rick Warren, Francis Collins of Bio Logos and with funding organizations like “The Gathering” ). Pro LGBTQ activist billionaire Paul Singer is buying up evangelical “real estate ” in the form of & Campaign National Immigration Forum and and many TGC leaders. The National Christian Foundation near Atlanta Georgia is another organization supporting organizations buying into FBP funds by providing additional support which has exploded from $1 billion over 24 years to over a $ billion and 1/2 per year since around 2010.
Virtually no public accounting of the problems associated with these grants is made by many of the recipients of these funds. Little or no availability of where massive “pass through ” funding is coming from in organizations whose operations make them perfect gathering places for multiple unseen donors. In the case of KFF and Templeton- being willing and able to operate “off shore” makes these issues of even greater concern.
One day when the history of modern Christianity in America is written -the foot note is likely to read: ” Many committed Christians and organizations withstood the liberal theology and left wing politics of the times until eventually most if not all resistance gave way to the allure of big easy money with deadly strings and agendas attached”.
