Karen Swallow Prior likes to be controversial and to inject herself into the controversies of others in the Baptist world. Like a sort of evangelical Paris Hilton “Notorious KSP” (as she refers to herself on Twitter) is an “A list CELEBRITY ” who always seems to get invited to the party when there is a conservative Baptist’s BLOOD in the water. She led the protest and petition against Baptist icon Paige Patterson who stood accused at the height of the #MeToo movement. Now she stands as vocal and “insightful” critic calling for the total removal and cancellation of her former Liberty University boss Jerry Falwell Jr. Guilty or not, Prior enjoys the position of public opinion judge, jury and executioner for Baptist accused of wrongdoing.

“Karen Swallow Prior on Falwell Scandal & Evangelicalism’s Future”
In recent weeks Karen Swallow Prior, a former employee of Liberty University has appeared on CNN’s Anderson Cooper ( an openly gay CNN anchor) saying she is “Happy the Truth is Out” about Jerry Falwell Jr. Prior also appeared in/ on many other outlets like “Juicy Ecumenism ” with Mark Tooley claiming that the Falwell scandal is “microcosm of American evangelicalism”.
After Leaving Liberty University earlier this year “Notorious KPS “, as she fancies herself, is safely employed at Baptist institution SEBTS. She had previously not only been employed by the Falwell family but had listed her church membership at Thomas Road Baptist Church, former church of Jerry Falwell Sr. now pastored by another son Jonathan Falwell. (From her SEBTS bio ” Prior and her husband, Roy, are members of Thomas Road Baptist Church.” – Karen seemed to have been very comfortably entrenched for decades in the Falwell legacy before becoming one of it’s most outspoken critics. )

Prior raise concerns among conservative evangelicals early on with her constant endorsements “on the edge “of gay issues and even attendance at a GAY FILM FESTIVAL. Upon her quiet , apparent departure from the ERLC ,Christian Research Network press release reported “Prior praised the “It Gets Better Campaign,” which is a pro-LGBT campaign targeted at youth and children and produced videos from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton encouraging kids in their homosexuality. Prior endorsed the use of gay porn propaganda in high schools and colleges. Prior headlined an LGBT film-fest and fundraiser called Level Ground.”
NOTE: THE PORNOGRAPHIC NATURE OF THE GAY FILM INDUSTRY IS NOT ON THE RADAR FOR DR. PRIOR. Attending such festivals does indicate a very high likelihood that she is viewing scenes of gay porn while celebrating the producers of it. As pointed out in the Christian Research Network new release quoted above, Prior is also an advocate of the Obama Administration endorsed, gay porn laced , “It Get’s Better” Campaign while Prior is an outspoken opponent of Christians involved in “straight pornography”. Such selective outrage which exempts the obvious problems with gay culture while voicing opposition to the sexual sins of other Christians is common place in the efforts of Dr Prior.

Again, Prior is well known for her role on the cutting edge of any thing borderline gay in the Baptist sphere. In 2018 she surfaced endorsing the controversial Revoice “LGBTQ Thriving” movement which arose out of SBC’s flagship seminary SBTS ran by Albert Mohler who is the mentor of Russell Moore who also promoted him into his role in the ERLC . Revoice also had roots in the St Louis Seminary CTS of the once conservative Presbyterian Church in America. The PCA has now split over the Revoice movement.

RAINBOWS AND PELICANS -ORIGINS MATTER
Doubtless God made the rainbow and chose it as His symbol of promise but the concept of a mother pelican using self inflicted wounds to “nourish it’s young” is hardly a biblical picture of the Redeemer. Perhaps the use of the pagan pelican is an oversight or a product of Catholic sympathies from Russell Moore and Prior BUT USING A SYMBOL FOR LUCIFER to supposedly embody and symbolize Jesus is pretty edgy ignorance or just brazen blasphemy.

CONCLUSION
In 2019 the SBC ,with the help of Russell Moore and ERLC fellows like Karen Swallow Prior took a “Credentials Committee” designed for their annual Convention meetings and “Repurposed ” it as a standing “Committee” with investigative powers for complaints of sexual abuse and issues related to racial discrimination and mishandling /mistreatment of homosexual related issues.The Committee has the power to investigate and sanction and even strip credentials from SBC churches. They can also step into the ordination process of individual Baptist churches against the historic localized controls of the cooperating churches in the SBC. The Repurposed Credentials Committee was a so called “response to the #MeToo movement, aHuston Chronicle report series on sex abuse cover ups in the SBC and revelations” related to the Paige Patterson removal at SWBTS of which Prior was a key media player. Many problems exist and are even reported about by secular press like Inside Higher Ed coverage of former SWBTS professor Dr Robert Oscar Lopez.
Dr. Lopez who has advocated for and written multiple SBC statements for approval as “Resolutions” to address such issues as ex gay therapy and whistle blower protections has also worked to bring attention to the lack of SBC and the newly repurposed Committee to same sex related abuse which exist in both the Houston Chronicle investigations and is given a total pass in the SBC/ ERLC efforts to address abuse and to which they, Russell Moore and Karen Swallow Prior appear always willing to turn a blind eye.
Yet the Committee now represents far reaching centralized powers, which when politicized and abused, can carry out “search and destroy” missions on iconic figures like Patterson and the Falwell’s and Liberty with it’s reported $2 plus billion dollar endowment. To the victor go to the spoils. Now Notorious KSP is listed among the leaders of a new Alliance in Christian education located at SWBTS. This appears to be a pattern the outcomes of which are yet to be played out at Liberty once Jerry Jr is fully flushed out of power. Much more appears waiting in wings with the efforts of Prior to secure Falwell’s complete departure from Liberty. MORE to come on the players in those shadows.

THE BAPTIST #METOO WATCHDOG COMMISSION IS COMPRISED OF A SELECT GROUP OF SBC LEADERS ,FEMALES, JOURNALIST AND OTHERS WHO AWAIT THE NEXT MALE OFFENDERS STORY TO BREAK THEN POUNCE ON IT AND BEAT THE DRUM FOR VICTIMS.
The problem is the political and progressive DNA of the Repurposed Credentials Committee and it’s circle of players like Prior have already proven problematic as they ignore the reality of Same Sex Abuses and the reports of abuse in general which occur among “insiders” from their own SBC networks.
The “selective outrage ” of “abuse advocates” like Russell Moore or Karen Swallow Prior becomes especially glaring while both work feverishly to promote the thriving of “LGBT Christianity”, shamelessly engage social change efforts and tout their own progressive politics . The effort REEKS OF INSINCERITY and provides no real service to the Gospel or the purity of the church in a challenging culture. The mantra of Moore “It’s a Gospel issue” has been used to the point of abuse as the much admonished “civility” and “winsome” tone called for by Moore in his ERLC narrative -always seems to vanish when the next Baptist offender, guilty or not, is identified for targeting and destruction.The call for repentance, mercy and redemptive grace goes out the window when the Spirit of Jezebel warned about in Revelation 2:20 in the church of Thyatira.
“Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.”
Note this writer is not calling KSP the Jezebel the OT queen from I Kings and whose New Testament manifestation is warned of in Revelation 2:18-23. But this writer is pointing out Prior’s willingness on one had to seduce conservative Christians toward Revoice and other pro LGBTQ advocates while assuming the prophetic role decrying leaders whose sins she deems intolerable and outrageous. The entire Pelican Project brigade and it’s advisory council needs to be reminded of the remainder of Jesus warning regarding Jezebel. “…I will give to each one of you according to your works.”
