According to Baptist news The Southern Baptist Task Force hired two attorneys from the Linklaters Law firm in September 2021 .
“The task force explains this matter in its Sept. 29 letter: “The task force retained our own legal counsel, Linklaters attorneys Adam Lurie and Richard Smith. Both men are former senior Department of Justice officials with extensive background also in corporate law.”
Linklaters describes Diversity Equity & Inclusion as the “Pulse of their law firm.” and feature a variety of equity driven metrics including LGBTQ.

This writer warned in Oct 2021 that both firms were heavily focused on DE&I and committed to these “values ” corporately. These values are NOT compatible with the biblically conservative SBC and would not be fitting partners for investigations into sexual issues or misconduct by Baptist leaders. By June 6th MANY SBC leaders like Tom Ascol who is running for SBC President , and leaders from Alabama , TN and KY realized the SBC was” being played”. Guidepost celebrated its stance alongside LGBTQ+ Pride in a now infamous post on Twitter with this comment:

A FULL DAY LATER AFTER THE CONCERNS AROSE IN THE SBC OVER GUIDEPOST- LINKLATERS FIRM DOES THE SAME.

CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS WILL NO DOUBT FOLLOW THE REPORT
All Five law firms involved with various entities of the SBC will no doubt play a large role, perhaps even larger than Guidepost Solutions going forward in the SBC sex abuse scandal. Litigation and lawsuits – even a massive class action suit is bound to follow.It is a given since many if not most SBC entities and leaders have admitted to the sex abuse scandal.
At present a group of former US Gymnastics Team members are suting the FBI for $1 billion dollars. Rachael Denhollander is one of the most well known victims in this case and is part of the SBC investigation.According to one former EC leader it was Denhollander who first put the SBC leadership in touch with/ recommending Guidepost Solutions.
Previously she had recommended victims to Guidepost in the RAVI Zacharias Ministries scandal .

They assigned to us people on their staff who were … Christian (and some Baptists). … It was obvious these were people who cared about the kingdom, cared about survivors, cared about what we were trying to do.”
FACT CHECK AND TIMELINE
Before the contract was signed with Guidepost by the Task Force – concern had arisen over some Guidepost Solutions requirement of the SBC Executive Committee who stood accused by leaked emails between Russell Moore ,defrocked head SBC ethicist and his original partner in the 2018 “Investigations/former SBC President J D Greear. Dozens of Executive Committee members resigned over the effort to FORCE the waiver of “attorney client privilege”. The long time law firm of the SBC Executive Committee also resigned over this issue.This action looks to have been done to shift the balance of power in the EC from biblical Conservatives to the growing progressive fringe represented by Moore and many Neo Calvinist and TGC affiliated Baptist.
Then $ 2 million dollars and an extremely fragile and unimpressive Guidepost Solutions / Task Force investigation REPORT later – many in the SBC had been wondering what they had just paid for and where the concerns would land outside those targeted in the REPORT.
Complaints were everywhere about the shoddy work behind the REPORT and also that many victims stories and interviews were LEFT OUT OF THE GUIDEPOST SOLUTIONS REPORT .
The question then became “DO ACTUAL ABUSE VICTIMS EVEN HAVE AN ADVOCATE IN THE MIX?”
The highly suspect REPORT was discussed from its release in mid May until the Guidepost Solutions LGBTQ PRIDE affirming Tweet on January 6th which received over 165 concerned retweets with disturbed quotes including from SBC Presidential candidate Tom Ascol.
“1/ This is who we gave our tithe dollars to? I & 47,000 other SBC pastors, plus millions of faithful members feel betrayed. We paid $millions to a LGBT-affirming & proud organization to guide us on moral & spiritual matters!? Is there no fear of God?”

WILL SOUTHERN BAPTIST LEADERS BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN THE BACKBONE TO STAND AGAINST THE OBVIOUS HUSTLE STILL GOING ON AMONG THE “INVESTIGATION” AND TASK FORCE “PARTNERS”?
Gentlemen NOW is the time to repent and extract the SBC from the hands of those who hate us and God’s Word and the Saviour we serve.
HOW GREAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TO PREVENT THESE ERRORS BEFORE THEY EVER HAPPENED AND BAPTIST BELIEVERS REPUTATIONS AND HOUSES OF WORSHIP WERE EXPOSED TO THIS AGENDA DRIVEN EFFORT AND REAL ABUSE VICTIMS WERE LEFT TO REMAIN UNREPRESENTED?
Reportedly the $2 million paid to Guidepost Solutions – plus another $ 4 million and one reported total of $14 million has been spent or committed to this Investigation and Compliance / Prevention effort turned folly.
Enough – let Baptist call for repentance- for a total do over of the “Investigation” AND exposure of all those “leaders ” in the SBC who led us into the hands of these PROUD partners and their contrary values to the Lord we serve.
