HOW HAS A CIGAR SMOKING, OBESE CALVINIST PREACHER FROM THE THEOLOGICAL FRINGE BECOME THE MAINSTREAM FACE OF THE FLAWED AND DANGEROUS IDEOLOGY INVENTED BY THE LEFT TO TRAP CONSERVATIVE AND PATRIOTIC CHRISTIANS FOR VILLIFICATION AND PERSECUTION?

WILSON LIKELY FANCIES HIMSELF TO BE THE HOWARD STERN “SHOCK- JOCK” OF CALVINIST THEOLOGIANS.
THE FOLLOWING IS A LOOK AT THE PROBLEMATIC IDEOLOGY AND AT DOUG WILSON WHO IS BEING FEATURED PROMOTING “CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM” BY THE SUCH POPULAR FIGURES AS TUCKER CARLSON AND CHARLIE KIRK. INCREASED PERSECUTION OF CHRISTAINS IN AMERICA IS THE POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF THIS FOOL’S ERRAND.

Assuming the lable of a Christian Nationalist for Conservative and Patriotic Christians is a fast track to the margins of the political sphere that will end in their BEING targeted as a Taliban like extremist group wanting to be America’s moral police.
““As a Christian, I would like that national structure to conform to the thing that God wants, and not the thing that man wants,” Wilson told Carlson. “That’s Christian nationalism.”
YES IT IS A PLAY OF THE LEFT…ADMITS DOUG WILSON –
Wilson admits in his Carlson nterview that the term Christian Nationalism is, at least in part, and invention of the left. He asserts to believe that he can clarify and redeem the term to describe Christians like himself while failing to realize this would be akin to a Muslim seeking to own and redeem the term TERRORIST. Even if it were possible- with his passive agressive provocations and edgy self promotion- Wilson would hardly be the man for the job.
WHO IS DOUG WILSON?
A fellow Calvinist critic of Wilson describes him this- “Wilson is a cross between Theodore Beza ( French Theologian disciple of John Calvin) and P.T. Barnum, he’s a conservative Presbyterian, a maverick within Presbyterianism, but also something of a showman who knows how to draw a crowd and say things that for better or worse get attention: with famous quotes about atheism, slavery, confederacy, spanking, empathy, and marital sex. “…”Wilson has been accused of leading a personality cult, harboring abuse in his church, promoting patriarch and misogyny, and several other untoward things which you can find alleged all over the internet, I recommend the piece on Slate to start your search.”
Doug Wilson’s Kingdom includes- Minister at Christ Church, LOGOS SCHOOL, New Saint Andrews College, Publisher at Cannon Press and Greyfriars Hall-a pastoral training center. Wilson’s Kingdom is headquartered in TINY and obscure Moscow Idaho church with both a cult like atmosphere and national following.
Wilson’s Doctrinal views include:
Classical Christian education
Wilson has been an advocate for Homeschooling and Classical Christian Educations but also poses a threat to the movement with his extreme views on so many issues. Wilson’s fringe “cult -like” approach leaves Christian private education and homeschooling open to the classic villification by its critics who wish to abolish it.
TheologIical – fringe Calvinist -The Gospel Coalition Endorsement-
Reformed theology- Wilson is at times closely associated with NEO Calvinist like TGC
Example Endorsement of one of his books by one of WORST OF TGC camp editor Joe Carter. Wilson enjoys high praise from many in these and similar Neo-Cavinist circles.
Review
“If you combined G. K. Chesterton, H. L. Menken, and P. G. Wodehouse and mixed them with evangelicalism, you’d produce a writer like Douglas Wilson. Not only is Wilson one of our finest writers; he’s a superb reader and an excellent guide to the writing of luminaries such as Chesterton, Menken, and Wodehouse. Whether introducing you to authors you’ve never read or reacquainting you with old favorites, Writers to Read will help you become a better reader.”
―Joe Carter, Editor, The Gospel Coalition; contributor, NIV Lifehacks Bible
Wilson’s Calvinism is always edgy- loving controversy – radical -fringe and dangerously appealing to younger more radical Neo Calvinist pastors
Eschatology
Wilson holds to a view of Christian eschatology known as postmillennialism.
“Postmillennialism expects that eventually the vast majority of people living will be saved. Increasing gospel success will gradually produce a time in history prior to Christ’s return in which faith, righteousness, peace, and prosperity will prevail in the affairs of men and of nations. After an extensive era of such conditions Jesus Christ will return visibly, bodily, and gloriously, to end history with the general resurrection and the final judgment after which the eternal order follow”
“Although some postmillennialists hold to a literal millennium of 1,000 years, other postmillennialists see the thousand years more as a figurative term for a long period of time (similar in that respect to amillennialism). Among those holding to a non-literal “millennium” it is usually understood to have already begun, which implies a less obvious and less dramatic kind of millennium than that typically envisioned by premillennialists, as well as a more unexpected return of Christ.”
“Postmillennialism also teaches that the forces of Satan will gradually be defeated by the expansion of the Kingdom of God throughout history up until the second coming of Christ.” (Wiki overview)
Wilson and other Calvinist views on Eschacatology embrace “REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY”
Replacement theology, also CALLED supersessionism, is a Christian doctrine that the Christian Church has replaced the Jewish people as God’s chosen people. The doctrine states that the New Covenant through Jesus Christ has replaced the Mosaic covenant. This in turn feeds their Dominionist and Chrisitan Nationalist worldview.
(NOTE A FELLOW CALVINIST VIEW OF WILSON’S FLAWED BRAND OF COVENANT REPLACEMNT THEOLOGY)
“Defining the Covenant”
“To this point, it should be clear that the “covenant with Hagar” is key to Wilson’s brand of soft supersessionism. What’s equally clear, however, is that this particular covenantal arrangement evades precise definition, and what elements have been made plain at times appear entirely incompatible with a historic Reformed covenant theology.”
Troubled view on Dominionism
Federal Vision
“Wilson’s views on covenant theology have caused some controversy as part of the Federal Vision theology, partly because of its perceived similarity to the New Perspective on Paul, which Wilson does not fully endorse, though he has praised some tenets.[13] The Reformed Presbyterian Church in the United States declared his views on the subject to have “the effect of destroying the Reformed Faith”. (Wiki explainer and links )
Includes concept of Dominionism or Dominion Theology
“Dominion theology, also known as dominionism, is a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians and based on their understandings of biblical law. Extents of rule and ways of acquiring governing authority are varied.”
BUT WHO IS IN CHANGE IN WILSON’S WORLD- GOD OR FRINGE CALVINIST LIKE HIM?
Wilson SMOOTHLY presents his Christian Nationalism in the context of advocating for a Theocracy where God rules society.
From Wilsons book “Mere Christendom”
“Why are we so afraid of theocracy? What might happen? Might we go on a rampage and kill 60 million babies? Yeah, that would be bad. Better not risk it.”
“Might we set up a surveillance state, with camera clusters pointed in every direction at all the intersections? Right—theocracies are terrible like that. The real reason why our current rulers want us to react violently whenever we hear the word theocracy is that petty gods are always jealous of their position, and dread any talk of a Lord who rose from the dead.”
REMEMBER SOME EXTREME CALVINIST- INCLUDING JOHN CALVIN HIMSELF HAVE A HISTORY OF RULING WITH A TWISTED VIEW OF AUTHORITARIAN TYRANNY.
Discussions on slavery
“Wilson’s most controversial work is considered to be his pamphlet Southern Slavery, As It Was, which he co-wrote with Christian minister J. Steven Wilkins. In it, Wilkins wrote that “slavery produced in the South a genuine affection between the races that we believe we can say has never existed in any nation before the War or since.”[16] Louis Markos notes that “though the pamphlet condemned racism and said the practice of Southern slavery was unbiblical, critics were troubled that it argued U.S. slavery was more benign than is usually presented in history texts.”
WILSON’S Connections to Neo-Confederates and Reconstructionist Theology
The Southern Poverty Law Center connects Wilson’s views to the Neo-Confederate and Christian Reconstruction movements influenced by R. J. Rushdoony, concluding, “Wilson’s theology is in most ways indistinguishable from basic tenets of [Christian] Reconstruction.
New Atheists- Wilson Loves to Debate
“Wilson has engaged in extensive critique and debate with prominent New Atheists. In May 2007, Wilson debated Christopher Hitchens in a six-part series published first in Christianity Today,[7] and subsequently as a book entitled Is Christianity Good for the World?” A brief Wiki overview

DOUG WILSON’S BAND AND A VIDEO FROM A FEW YEARS AGO

“So, then, there is this little side activity of mine that shows up in public from from time to time, and which would seem to require some explanation.”

THE VIDEO SHOWS THE BAND SMASHING POTS OF CLAY- BOASTING –
“Oh, what do you say?
Oh, what do you say?
Hold your peace, rebellious pot,
The Lord is God and you are not.”
(The theme is clearly taken from Isaiah 45 :9 “Woe to him who strives with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!
Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?
10 Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’
Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?”.
It is also indicative of Jeremiah 18 1-5 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! “)
“The Jenny Geddes Band is a group of friends that like music as much as I do, and which has a floating, inchoate, but very loyal membership. The band is named after the stalwart Scottish woman who threw her milking stool at the head of the minister when he attempted to introduce Anglican forms of prayer at St. Giles Cathedral in 1637.”

“Christian nationalism can never end in patriotism because it confuses the ultimate and the proximate,” writes Russell Moore.
“Progressive utopianism can never result in patriotism because it does the same.”
DAVID FRENCH– IN THE NEW YORK TIMES
“In 2022, a coalition of right-wing writers and leaders published a document called “National Conservatism: A Statement of Principles.” Its section on God and public religion states: “Where a Christian majority exists, public life should be rooted in Christianity and its moral vision, which should be honored by the state and other institutions both public and private.” That’s an extraordinary — and ominous — ideological statement, one that would immediately relegate non-Christians to second-class status. It’s utterly contrary to the First Amendment and would impose a form of compelled deference to Christianity on both religious minorities and the nonreligious.”
“But Christian nationalism isn’t just rooted in ideology; it’s also deeply rooted in identity, the belief that Christians should rule. This is the heart of the Seven Mountain Mandate, a dominionist movement emerging from American Pentecostalism that is, put bluntly, Christian identity politics on steroids. Paula White, Donald Trump’s closest spiritual adviser, is an adherent, and so is the chief justice of Alabama, Tom Parker, who wrote a concurring opinion in the court’s recent I.V.F. decision. The movement holds that Christians are called to rule seven key societal institutions: the family, the church, education, the media, the arts, business and the government.”
“The problem with Christian nationalism isn’t with Christian participation in politics but rather the belief that there should be Christian primacy in politics and law. It can manifest itself through ideology, identity and emotion. And if it were to take hold, it would both upend our Constitution and fracture our society.”

CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM
On Charlie Kirk Program
Kirk
“Pastor Doug Wilson proudly calls himself a “Christian nationalist.” What does he mean by that? Pastor Wilson talks about the idea of “Christendom,” and how America remained an outpost of Christendom until progressive sabotage in the 20th century. He also explains how belief in God is the root of political rights, and secularism is the path directly to the tyrannies of Stalin & Mao,”
FROM THE RECENT RELIGION NEWS SERVICE /JULIE ROYS ARTICLE
“The Second Coming of Doug Wilson”

“From talk shows to the conference circuit, Wilson, the influential head of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, for decades, has become a regular voice in conservative political circles, emerging as a figurehead for what is framed as a comparatively moderate version of Christian nationalism.
As far as Wilson is concerned, the media blitz is simply the political world paying attention to ideas he has preached for some time.
“The reason I think it happened,” said Wilson in an interview last week, is because “we’ve been pounding away at these issues for a number of decades.”
“But scholars and critics of Wilson argue his version of Christian nationalism remains radical, and as Wilson associates himself with a widening web of right-wing influencers and personalities — including some who argue the U.S. Constitution is “dead” — analysts say they are worried about precisely what kind of ideas the small-town pastor will promote on the national stage”
“For example, he has floated incorporating the Apostles Creed into the Constitution; believes building a Christian nation in the U.S. should be a “pan-Protestant project”; and has said that while he does not personally endorse the idea of establishing a religion at the state level, he believes it to be legal.”
“Last month, onetime Fox News host Tucker Carlson sat in his cabin-like studio and introduced a bearded, 70-year-old Idaho pastor named Doug Wilson as the person “most closely identified” with Christian nationalism, calling him one of the “rare” clergy “willing to engage on questions of culture and politics.” The vibe was similarly effusive weeks later, when Charlie Kirk, founder of the youth-focused conservative group Turning Point USA, had Wilson on his podcast to define Christian nationalism for listeners, calling the Reformed pastor a “thoughtful, brilliant thinker.”
Kirk was so excited by the interview that he encouraged listeners to “send it to your pastors.”
KIRK AND CARLSON ARE BY FAR MORE YOUNG LIBERTARIANS THAN TRUE CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVES .BOTH HAVE THEIR OWN SERIOUS PROBLEMS.

DOUG WILSON – IN “THE NATURAL USE OF THE WOMAN”
“Godly women want to feed their men.
“Godly women are designed to make the sandwiches.
This is not an absolute law, like the one about making babies, and there are times when a man fends for himself and makes quite a decent sandwich.
But in the general scheme of things, the apostle Paul wants the women to make the sandwiches.”

Inside the Church That Preaches ‘Wives Need to Be Led with a Firm Hand’

“Evangelical pastor Douglas Wilson wrote that men “conquer” and women “surrender.” Christ Church survivors are starting to speak out.”
From the Author of the VICE article and her new book:
“As I started interviewing women from Moscow, Idaho for VICE, I learned how Christ Church pastor Doug Wilson’s teachings impacted their lives. In his book, Father Hunger, Wilson claimed lack of masculine fathers exerting their authority (a masculinity that “does not simper and lisp”) is a root failing of our culture. Egalitarianism is poison. In Fidelity, Wilson writes “the sexual act cannot be made into an egalitarian pleasuring party. A man penetrates, conquers, colonizes, plants. A woman receives, surrenders, accepts.” Authority and submission, he holds, “are therefore an erotic necessity.” He suggests that because our society has lost “biblical concepts of true authority and submission,” caricatures of those roles intrude in our lives with violence. And so “our banished authority and submission comes back to us in pathological forms. This is what lies behind sexual ‘bondage and submission games,’ along with very common rape fantasies.” Men, Wilson writes, “dream of being rapists, and women find themselves wistfully reading novels in which someone ravishes the ‘soon-to-be-made-willing’ heroine.” In The Fruit of Her Hands Nancy Wilson, Doug Wilson’s wife, shares a metaphor for marital sex. Wives cultivate a sort of lovely garden for their husbands and “of course a husband is never trespassing in his own garden.”

Pastor Doug Wilson gives answers to a few of the Frequently Asked Questions on Christian Nationalism.
CONCLUSION
Christian Nationalism is NOT an identity for conservative or patriotic Christians. It is a sticky trap baited and intended to lure frustrated and passionate believers into an easy misrepresentation of their political, ideological, and Gospel views. Do not go near it . MORE do NOT FOLLOW inflated egos wearing theologian labels who want to pursuade you that you are a Christian Nationalist or that being one will help usher in the Kingdom of God and a “Golden Age of Christianity ” globally. They are fools on a fools errand.
2nd Timothy 3 :
“Perilous Times and Perilous Men”
3 “But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.”
